Role: ALM Application Support Analyst

Location: London

Team Description

The ALM Tech Team is responsible for managing the infrastructure and systems used in the Balance Sheet Risk Management at Investec UK. Key areas we look after are Liquidity Risk, Interest Rate Risk in the Banking Book and Regulatory Reporting.

The team comprises of developers - (Informatica, SSIS, SQL and Oracle DB), Business Analysts and DevOps / Operational support people.

Couple of vendor systems (Riskpro and Suade) are used in the risk calculations / reg reporting.

Description of role and key responsibilities

  • Get involved in upgrading the vendor apps / setting up applications on new environments
  • Get involved in moving over to SSaS versions of both Riskpro and Suade
  • Liaising with the vendors in case of any issue with the applications
  • Setting up new jobs / modifying existing jobs in Control-M batch
  • UAT Support
  • Provide 2nd line support to existing solutions and services, applications, troubleshoot any data load failures, application issues, bugs
  • Investigate and resolve problems and provide information about the application systems
  • Take ownership on data quality and troubleshoot any issues raised, work with the data owners to rectify issues
  • Follow and contribute to departmental development process in terms of standards, methodologies, testing, version control and documentation, drive and implement industry best practises, evaluate and introduce new tools, improve existing ETL framework, data validation framework
  • Manage Change Management, BCP/DR tests and user training

Core skills and knowledge

Essential Skills:

  • Experience of working on Control-M or any other job scheduling tool
  • Experience of working with Microsoft SQL / Oracle or any other relational database
  • Some scripting experience (batch scripting / shell scripting), to help with process automation
  • Experience of working in a team following Agile/Kanban development practices, using JIRA, Confluence, Service Now etc.
  • General troubleshooting of issues and Application Support experience
  • General understanding of Windows and Linux servers admin

Good to have:

  • Any API development experience
  • Investment Banking or Financial Services experience
  • Any experience on cloud / Azure DevOps
