Team Description

A provider of residential and commercial development and investment finance to institutional and private clients.

This role is for an individual to work within the Corporate Real Estate part of the business i.e. lending to large corporates, real estate funds.

Description of role and key responsibilities

This role is to assist the Real Estate Consultants in the origination and maintenance of property loans in the residential and commercial markets.

The role will primarily involve the following:

  • Management of the existing loan book, covering annual reviews, development drawdowns, loan extensions and increases, including renegotiation of facility terms, as well as adhoc client requests.
  • Liaising with Operations, Valuers, Monitoring Surveyors, On-boarding, Credit, Legal Counsel as well as the Consultants in order to manage the book and when progressing new deal opportunities.
  • Build out cash flow models, prepare term sheets and write papers for potential new deals, including proposing structuring (pricing, leverage, covenants, security etc.)
  • Detailed analysis of new deals, including scenario and sensitivity testing.
  • Financial analysis of sponsors, guarantors, contractors and potentially other parties involved.
  • Attend client meetings, negotiate terms and present deals to Credit.
  • Following Credit approval, run the legal process alongside Legal Counsel, Operations and On-boarding to complete the transaction.

Core skills and knowledge

  • Knowledge of the property market
  • Knowledge of property lending, with development lending experience beneficial
  • An understanding of valuation principles
  • An understanding of the key terms in real estate finance transactions
  • Ability to build cash flow models and provide cash flow analysis to originators
  • Ability to carry out financial analysis of a business
  • Be able to identify any relevant material business risks
  • Ability to deal with demanding clients and work within tight deadlines
  • A proactive attitude to deliver for clients
  • Knowledge of Real Estate procedures including credit and drawdown related matters
  • Understand and follow all relevant compliance consideration including the regulatory environment and appropriate processes, procedures and their implications
