Investec – Where Out of the Ordinary Happens
At Investec, we do things differently. We're a leading international bank and wealth manager built on a culture of curiosity, entrepreneurial spirit and human connection. Ideas are heard, ambition is celebrated, and impact is encouraged. As part of a team that challenges convention and strives for outperformance, you'll help shape bold solutions for clients who expect something more than the ordinary.
Description of role and
key responsibilities
Appway is IBSAG's Swiss-based client onboarding Business Process
Management (BPM) system, which also doubles as IBSAG's Customer
Relationship Management (CRM) system. It underpins key client-facing and
internal processes across onboarding, client lifecycle management, KYC,
documentation handling and workflow automation, and is critical to client
experience, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance and revenue
generation.
Based in the Investec India (Mumbai) office, the Appway Business Analyst and
Developer is responsible for the development, enhancement and ongoing
maintenance of the Appway platform for IBSAG. The role works extremely
closely with the various business areas in Switzerland and combines handson
Appway development with business analysis, translating business and
regulatory requirements into robust, compliant system solutions and helping to
clear the change-request backlog and deliver the change programme.
Key responsibilities include:
Design, build, test and maintain Appway solutions using the Appway / FNZ
Studio development environment (Java-based development).
Progress and clear the backlog of Appway change requests – including
regulatory updates, process improvements, efficiency gains and userexperience
enhancements – within agreed timelines.
Deliver the change demand, including regulatory enhancements (client
lifecycle, documentation, audit tracking and risk-based workflows),
digitalisation initiatives and onboarding automation, straight-throughprocessing
(STP) and efficiency improvements, and integration with other
strategic systems.
Gather, analyse and document business requirements, and translate them
into technical designs and Appway workflow solutions for onboarding, KYC,
client lifecycle management and documentation handling.
Carry out business-as-usual (BAU) maintenance and provide ongoing
support for the Appway platform including production bugs and issues.
Participate in knowledge transfer and cross-training with the incumbent
Appway/Wintech developers, IBSAG and Investec India teams, and
maintain clear technical and process documentation.
Work within Investec Switzerland's and Investec India's governance,
outsourcing, security and data-handling standards, including FINMA
outsourcing requirements.
Core skills and
knowledge
Proven, hands-on Appway development experience (ideally Appwaycertified),
with a strong command of the Appway / FNZ Studio development
environment.
Familiarity with older / legacy Appway architecture, and a willingness to be
trained on IBSAG's specific Appway environment by the incumbent Wintech
developers.
Solid Java programming skills, the core language used for Appway
development.
Strong business analysis capability – requirements gathering, process
mapping and translating business needs into technical solutions.
Practical experience of client onboarding, KYC, client lifecycle
management, documentation handling and workflow automation, ideally
within financial services or banking.
Understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements relevant to
onboarding and client lifecycle (documentation, audit tracking and riskbased
workflows).
Experience delivering straight-through-processing (STP) and efficiency
improvements, and integrating BPM / workflow platforms with other
enterprise systems.
Ability to work effectively under an outsourcing / offshoring governance
model and to collaborate across Swiss and Indian teams and time zones.
Strong documentation discipline and effective knowledge-transfer skills.
Any other attributes that
would be helpful, but not
essential for the role
Background in financial-services digital transformation.
Awareness of emerging technologies – such as AI, Cloud & DevOps, data
science and blockchain – in a financial-services context.
Ability to become self-sufficient and productive in the IBSAG Appway
environment within approximately three months.
Experience of working within an intragroup offshoring / outsourcing
operating model.
Key additional aspects Working Arrangement: In line with the IGSI Flexible Working Policy,
employees are expected to work four days per week in the office and one
day remotely. To support a smooth transition into the role, a phased
approach will apply: two office days per week during the first three months
of employment, increasing to three office days per week during months four
to six, and thereafter transitioning to the standard arrangement of four office
days and one remote working day per week.
Professional Development: In addition to the core responsibilities of the
role, there is an expectation that the successful candidate will proactively
broaden their skills and capabilities by developing expertise in additional
technologies, applications, and systems over time. This commitment to
continuous learning will support future career development and growth
opportunities within Investec. A tailored learning and development plan will
be established to facilitate this progression.
