Role Overview:

Investec is seeking a motivated Analyst to join our Energy & Infrastructure Finance (E&IF) team. This role is critical to the execution of our strategy for E&IF clients in the UK and Europe, providing innovative funding solutions in the debt financing and advisory space. As part of a team that is central to achieving Investec's sustainability goals, this position offers exciting opportunities for personal and professional development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Credit Approval Process Support:

  • Conduct transaction due diligence and draft comprehensive credit papers.
  • Analyse financial models, including building models for specific mandated deals and performing sensitivity analyses on cash flows.
  • Collaborate with senior team members and internal legal to draft and review mandate letters and term sheets.
  • Submit credit papers and coordinate credit committee meetings with the Credit department.
  • Prepare deal ratings, analyse deal economics, and calculate returns.
  • Work with syndication colleagues to prepare materials and respond to inquiries for sell-down.

• Financial Advisory Mandates:

  • Build detailed financial models based on discussions with company management, sponsors, and due diligence advisors.
  • Clearly explain model assumptions, logic, and outputs to clients, guiding them through the review and audit process.
  • Prepare marketing materials, including teasers and information memoranda.
  • Assist in deal execution activities, collaborating with external advisers throughout the Q&A process.

• Marketing and Origination Support:

  • Assist senior team members in marketing efforts by providing deal structuring solutions and engaging with clients and advisors.
  • Create and draft pitch books and relevant materials for discussions with stakeholders.

• Portfolio Management:

  • Manage a portfolio of assets in collaboration with the senior team member responsible for the E&IF portfolio.
  • Maintain ongoing relationships with borrowers and internal/external stakeholders.
  • Conduct regular reviews of financial information to ensure cash flow aligns with expectations.
  • Prepare annual reviews, amendments, and waiver requests for portfolio assets.

Core Skills and Knowledge:

• Strong understanding of financial analysis, valuation, and modelling techniques, with the ability to build comprehensive financial models from scratch.
• Commercial awareness, including knowledge of key risks, mitigants, and structuring approaches relevant to the Energy & Infrastructure sector in the UK and Europe.
• Creative problem-solving skills to provide flexible and innovative financing structures.
• Self-motivated team player with a collaborative mindset.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements relevant to the role.
• Proficiency in IT, including Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Strong transaction experience, ideally from a debt financing perspective, in the Energy and Infrastructure sector, preferably gained in a relevant financing and/or advisory team within a bank, fund, sponsor, or advisory firm.
