Business Analyst - Data & Analytics (12730)

Roles and Responsibilities:
Discovery and Analysis:
- Conduct detailed reviews of the existing technical solutions (e.g. Power BI Reports & Dashboards, SSIS data integrations) and underlying flat-file and SQL DB data sources.
- Document current-state architecture, data flows, dependenciesand pain points.
- Identify and validate core business metrics, KPIs, and data definitions.
- Collaborate with executives and data owners to clarify reporting needs, data gaps, and decision-use cases.
Requirements Gathering and Documentation:
- Develop comprehensive business and functional requirement documents (BRDs/FRDs).
- Capture and translate executive-level needs into technical specifications for the engineering and BI teams.
- Maintain traceability between business outcomes, KPIs, and data sources.
- Ensure requirements align with enterprise data governance and security standards.
Solution Design and Planning:
- Work closely with data engineers, Power BI developers, and platform architects to design a robust, scalable, and maintainable solution.
- Develop future-state data model and architectural diagrams using approved Investec patterns (Databricks, Fabric, Power BI).
- Produce a delivery roadmap, identifying dependencies, sequencing and resource needs.
- Ensure alignment with the organisation's data mesh and data governance principles.
Stakeholder Management:
- Serve as a bridge between business stakeholders (executives, finance, risk, operations) and technical teams.
- Communicate progress, risks, and design decisions clearly and confidently.
- Facilitate workshops, design sessions, and UAT phases.
Governance and Quality:
- Define and enforce documentation standards, naming conventions and metadata capture.
- Support definition and tracking of data quality rules and validation checks.
- Ensure compliance with data security, confidentiality, and audit requirements.
Core skills and knowledge:
- 5 to 10 years of experience as a Business Analyst or Technical BA within financial services or banking.
- Strong understanding of data warehousing, data modelling, and BI / analytics workflows.
- Proven experience in Azure Data Platform technologies:Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, Azure Data Lake, SQL.
- Ability to translate business requirements into data and technical design artifacts.
- Familiarity with Agile delivery and data governance frameworks.
- Experience developing or supporting executive-level reporting or dashboards.
- Strong documentation skills (process flows, data dictionaries, system mapping).
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills – comfortable engaging at C-suite level.
- Experience working in data mesh architectures.
- Exposure to data lineage / metadata management tools (e.g., Purview).
- Understanding of KPIs in financial services (e.g., balance sheet metrics, profitability, risk indicators).
- Experience in solutioning and planning for Power BI enterprise implementations.
