Business Continuity Analyst (9 Month FTC) (4000)

Role: Business Continuity Analyst 

Location: Agnostic (any IW&I office location)

Type of contract: 9 Month Fixed Term Contract (with view of potential extension) 

Team Description

The IW&I Operational Risk team is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of the IW&I operational risk management framework, policies and practices. The business continuity and operational resilience programme also sits within the Operational Risk team

Description of role and key responsibilities

  • This role reports into the Operational Resilience Manager and will focus on delivering the Business Continuity Management framework for Investec Wealth & Investment (IW&I) whilst supporting delivery of the regulatory requirements for Operational Resilience

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Provide expertise and ensure accurate / timely completion of business impact analysis (BIA) and business continuity plans (BCP).
  • Engage with business and functional areas to conduct BIA. Identify critical processes, recovery time objectives (RTO's) and map dependencies (i.e. people, third party vendors, technology).
  • In close partnership with the business, design the requirements for and ensure the implementation of BCP's that consider key business disruption scenarios.
  • Liaise with Technology to ensure disaster recovery planning and RTO's are aligned to BIA's.
  • Provide robust review and challenge of BIA's and BCP's.
  • Design and conduct testing of business continuity plans, ensuring results and lessons learnt are captured and reported accordingly.
  • Support the implementation of business continuity systems and tools.
  • Support delivery of Operational Resilience regulatory requirements which includes; important business services, impact tolerances, mapping, scenario testing and self-assessment.
  • Provide input into operational resilience working group and steering committee, prepare reporting as and when required.
  • Monitor changes in the industry and regulations which IWI need to respond to and ensure IWI takes appropriate action.
  • Promote a culture of operational resilience awareness across IW&I.
  • Produce Management Information packs which highlight key areas of risk or further development.
  • Support the Operational Resilience Manager with ad hoc requests as and when required.

Core skills and knowledge

  • Detailed knowledge of business continuity management methodologies and principles.
  • Sound knowledge of operational resilience regulation in financial services.
  • Experience in disaster recovery and business recovery, preferably within financial services.
  • Running effective workshops to develop business impact analysis (BIA) and business continuity plans (BCP)
  • A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).

Other attributes that would be helpful, but not essential for the role.

  • Communication – ability to engage with a wide range of colleagues and articulately discuss / write report on various issue (verbal / written / presentation).
  • Challenge – ability to challenge multiple SMEs and management on a wide range of topics and risks.
  • Attention to detail – to pick up on errors and produce accurate work, with strong analytical capability.
  • Organised – work to multiple deadlines yet maintain flexibility through the workday.
  • Experience of dealing with multiple senior stakeholders across multiple business areas (i.e. Front Office, Technology, Operations).
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to deliver at pace and produce high quality output.

Qualifications 

  • Understanding of relevant industry standards, e.g. ISO22301.
  • Extensive experience of business continuity management.
  • Relevant tertiary education i.e. BCom/BSc Degree or similar.
