Role: Business Developer - Charities Team

Location: London

We are looking to recruit a Business Development Director who has an excellent knowledge of the charity sector and our competition and who wants to support a well-established team to develop a strong new business pipeline. This is an exciting opportunity to support a growing team of seven investment managers who are all dedicated to running charity money with many years of experience in the sector. The team have a passion for ESG investment and focus on working with charities to help them invest responsibly in a way that is aligned with their investment goals.

The successful individual will have experience of developing relationships with Charity Trustees, Board members and Executives, and will have the confidence to market the team and their investment principles in order to establish a regular flow of discretionary investment management business. Experience of promoting charity funds would also be an advantage. Networking and relationship building will be crucial to success in the role, whilst having a good knowledge of ESG will support the candidate's ability to convey our message to prospective charities. We are looking for a self-starter who is an excellent team player and willing to work together both with investment managers as well as other offices in order to successfully grow the underlying AUM of the Charities business.

The mains aspects of the role will include:

  • Proactively developing new business leads to ensure strong relationships are developed with prospects in order to optimise potential opportunity
  • Working closely with investment managers to ensure strong relationships are developed with external advisers.
  • Attending and actively participating in networking events, conferences, webinars and other promotional activities.
  • Liaising closely with the marketing team to devise a strategy for developing new charity clients and promoting events.
  • Liaising with the main charity publications to maintain the relationships and maximise the opportunity for promotional material.
  • Working with the investment managers and aiding in the completion of new business tenders; this will include the completion of tender documents and presentation materials as well as presenting to trustee boards where appropriate.
  • Maintaining a thorough knowledge of current issues affecting charities and disseminating this information to the investment managers
  • Maintaining the CRM system.
  • Attending Team investment meetings so as to be able to articulate the Team's views to potential clients.
