Business Manager (3874)

Description of role and key responsibilities

As part of the Business Management Team but working in conjunction with the business leaders within the client segments the Business Manager is the 1st line support representative for their given business/function who are commercially focussed and enable the business strategy by providing business support under a consistent and efficient framework.

This role is the Business Manager within the Private Clients business

The objective of this role is to work with the Private Clients areas in providing efficient Business Process, risk management, strategy, change management, and business administration support.

While each business area will have differing priorities the key responsibilities include:

Business Operations:

  • Be the subject matter expert in the operational E2E functions of the given business
  • Single point of contact for business enablers
  • Provide solutions and implementations for process improvements which will reduce costs and risk associated with the managing of the business
  • Act as a champion for to progress bank wide platforms to support our clients and the business (eg. CRM)
  • Identify “shadow operation” activities in the business areas and manage the removal of these functions to the appropriate business enabling areas

Change Management

  • Lead small change initiatives within the business and support larger projects run by the Change function
  • Manage stakeholder engagement for new products & initiatives and drive the timely delivery and speed to market
  • Identify and influence prioritisation of change for our clients and business
  • Provide SME support to change teams

Risk Management

  • Develop/Deliver and review Key Risk Indicators for the business communicating and escalating to the business heads as required
  • Manage the Risk & Controls Self Assessment process for the given business, ensuring all risks and controls are well documented and actions plans are in place to mitigate any risks outside of appetite
  • Represent the business functions at risk & governance forums and communicate results back to the businesses as required
  • Manage Business Continuity Management for the given business area
  • Execute delivery of wider risk projects for the given business, including Operational Resilience and roll out of Protecht (Ops Risk patform)
  • Lead Business Risk Governance Forums and working groups

Cost Management

  • Review and understand the operational budget for the business and work with finance to track and control costs in support of the business leaders
  • Review, challenge and investigate cost efficient alternatives for the business, and execue the delivery, where appropriate

Management Information

  • Work with business leaders, finance and data analytics to develop and provide appropriate management information where required.
  • Analyse MI and support the business leaders in decision making, where and when appropriate

Core Skills and Knowledge

Technical knowledge

  • Experience in the given business function and products – primarily HNW Mortgages and transactional banking
  • Experience in reviewing a control environment, defining and reporting on KPIs and providing effective insight
  • Understanding of the operational processes across product types
  • Understanding of first line Operational Risk model and experience in executing first line risk activities
  • Experience managing change and projects
  • Regulatory and Compliance Knowledge as applicable to role, to support the business leaders
