Role Profile
The Role:
This is a new role, leading the Investec Bank (Channel Islands) marketing and working closely with the IBCI CEO and senior team. The individual will have wide experience in the full marketing mix, including direct experience building out a brand and marketing strategy for a region, with a strong comms, content and event background and exceptional attention to detail.
This role is also responsible for supporting the Channel Islands' CSR strategy and community engagement agenda, ensuring initiatives are appropriately communicated, amplified and aligned to Investec's wider purpose and brand.
How to be successful in this role:
As a widely experienced marketer you will be responsible for leading the delivery of high-impact marketing in the Channel Islands and Isle of Man. You will have direct responsibility for creating the strategy, plans and activation of all marketing elements, ensuring quality of output as well as clear ROI.
This role requires a dynamic, proactive and forward-thinking marketer who has confidence and experience to own marketing strategies, budgets and decisions, and sell these into senior stakeholders. You'll be confident leading peers and teams across channels, agencies and in-house experts, including offshored teams and freelancers, to engineer resources in the way that delivers the best results.
Integral to your success is the ability to distil business marketing plans into comprehensive campaign schedules, providing valuable, real-time and strategic campaign feedback to the senior leadership team and Private Bank Marketing Lead, to be continuously re-shaping activity.
It's vital that this activity utilises the whole marketing mix to generate consistently increasing commercial returns – with a commercial growth mindset to complement this.
You'll act as a “director” of marketing activity, someone who is proud of delivering work of the highest standard, a meticulously well organised individual and hungry for results.
This role could involve line management via an offshore/local resource in future, so you will be expected to not only be a manager but a leader and coach.
Core responsibilities include:
• Work closely with senior IBCI leadership team to ‘reset' the bank's marketing and communications (internal and external), from strategic direction to delivery.
• Act as a local, IBCI specific resource, you will ensure you work closely with the wider Investec Bank PLC team in London, representing IBCI and establishing connections, synergies, solutions and opportunities within the wider marketing team and across the UK businesses.
• Focus initially on redefining the local brand and awareness strategy in the Channel Islands, creating and optimising high-quality client communications, and generating effective commercial returns on marketing activity.
• Define comprehensive campaign schedules based on marketing strategies and campaign plans.
• Work with shared and agency resource to build the right combination of skill sets to deliver each campaign, considering the specific campaign requirements and expertise needed.
• Identify and exploit commercial growth opportunities within the existing UK Investec client base, alongside colleagues in the UK.
• Lead each campaign team to deliver the very best results through your strong relationships with in-house channel experts, global counterparts, the in-house Production Hub in South Africa, agencies and freelancers.
• Deftly translate campaign plans into well-crafted briefs, providing clear direction on objectives and key results.
• Push the affinity to Investec's brand through creative marketing delivery within these campaigns, upholding consistency in all aspects of the brand.
• Be the expert set of eyes reviewing all campaign components, ensuring they meet your high standards and enhance the connection to Investec's brand, providing constructive feedback to your squad.
• As campaigns develop, pro-actively identify alternative solutions to enhance outcomes.
• Manage all aspects of the campaigns, taking responsibility for building on best performing campaign components, meeting budget and delivery timeline targets and ensuring maximum ROI.
• Work closely with the Traffic Manager and the South African-based hub team to ensure resources are allocated correctly and campaign changes are accommodated.
• Ensure you maintain a comprehensive and constantly growing knowledge of market-leading campaigns and what best-practice looks like for your business marketing solutions.
• Be pro-active at spotting issues wherever possible, professional when trouble shooting unexpected hurdles in your campaigns and escalating for awareness or resolution as required.
• Generate regular mid-campaign reports for stakeholder reviews and end-of-campaign reports that articulate the successes and impact of your work and how to build on these for future campaigns.
Core skills and knowledge:
• Regulatory Knowledge as applicable to role (compulsory) including understanding of latest compliance and financial promotion legislation, specifically for Channel Islands.
• To act with integrity at all times and embrace the philosophy of treating our customers fairly (compulsory).
Essential Criteria:
• Extensive background in leading marketing strategies, campaigns and plans, with 8+ years' experience, preferably in financial services.
• Ability to develop, own and realise a marketing vision, selling this into non-marketing senior stakeholders.
• Strong brand development experience, especially local vs global interpretations of a brand.
• Ideally experience in working in or with off-shore jurisdictions including the Channel Islands.
• Deep email and communications experience, with a good technical knowledge and passion for data.
• A can-do attitude with a keen eye for opportunity and passion for solving problems.
• Good understanding of banking services and products across B2C and B2B spaces.
• Strong understanding of traditional and digital marketing channels, their relevance to various audiences and an interest in following their evolution
• Experience optimising campaigns while in-flight based on analysis of performance and an understanding of how changing market conditions could enhance the impact of campaigns.
• Well developed skills constructing clear briefs that perfectly articulate campaign objectives and metrics, capturing the essence of the campaign and providing timely and pertinent details.
• A creative approach to asset development, providing clear direction and pushing the brand boundaries to generate out of the ordinary assets.
• Excellent project management skills and experience managing multiple campaigns concurrently.
• Keen interest in financial services and in understanding how economics intersect with client triggers to manage campaigns for maximum impact.
• A well-honed ability to lead project teams to reach a common goal, ensuring clarity of direction, with strong skills to persuade and influence.
• A keen interest to seek out expert views, distil (at times) competing opinions and be decisive in taking the optimal approach.
• Strong passion for working hard and fast in a constantly evolving financial services market within a company determined to succeed in a highly competitive landscape.
• Strong attention to detail, impeccable campaign management skills with a desire to be accountable for the results and return on investment from your budget.
