Asset based and cash flow lending sits within the Direct Lending franchise. This role is on the portfolio side of the team and is focused on the management of existing ABL borrowers. The Investec Direct Lending business is a leading private debt manager focused on the lower mid-market. The team originates, structures and provides debt solutions to private equity backed businesses with a typical EBITDA between £2-£75m based in the UK, Ireland, Benelux and DACH regions.
The business has 40+ investment professionals and €3bn+ assets under management. Consequently, the franchise is one of the largest players in its target market segments.
Roles and Responsibilities:
The primary objective for the Collateral and Risk Analyst is to assist on the management of the portfolio assets within the Direct Lending team
- Years of experience - 5-14 years
- Portfolio management – Monitor financial performance and covenant compliance, prepare annual reviews, provide performance updates, identify and act on warning signals and actively participate in portfolio reviews and assist on those credits that have deteriorated and/ or are challenged.
- Month end data capture and analysis – Review and analyse monthly collateral information, reconciliations and management information (vs budget, prior year and base case) within set timescales. Ensure reconciliations are completed accurately and timely. Strong attention to detail required when undertaking data review, data collection, validation and analysis. Update Direct Lending portfolio monitoring templates and track receipt of compliance certificates. Identify and provide insight to the Portfolio Manager.
- Portfolio business reviews – Provide independent risk and business overview of existing portfolio clients through completion of remote business/audit reviews. Completion of detailed work plan to ensure client collateral and financial operations are in line with facility agreement and deal structure. Early identification of key risk issues to ensure funding is at appropriate levels.
- Credit analysis – Strong credit skills required for the completion of annual renewals and new lending opportunities. Highly numerate with strong execution skills and a proven ability to operate in a private equity centric business. Requirement to meet timelines and to possess an understanding of the private equity deal lifecycle.
- Dealing with day to day client queries – Ensure timely and accurate resolution of all client queries. Review and authorise daily amendments to client's collateral and loan balances.
- Internal effectiveness – Requirement to build and develop positive relationships with key internal stakeholders (e.g. credit, the origination team, onboarding) with the aim of meeting internal KPIs and providing a high level of customer service.
- Proactiveness – A self-starter with a drive for results and a motivation and ambition to deliver a consistent high-quality output. It is important that any individual evidences an on-going drive for personal development and continuous improvement and use these skills to help the Private Credit Management team to formulate new as well as improve existing products, processes and procedures.
Key competencies required include:
- Excellent command of PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and other relevant tools and databases.
- Fluent in English and excellent oral and written communications skills.
- Willingness to obtain a knowledge of the UK and European Private Equity market.
- Sound understanding of financial reporting (P&L, balance and cashflow)
- Sound understanding of credit and risk.
- Ability to think critically, engage in analysis and make decisions.
- Ability to research, implement and deliver projects in a time-efficient manner.
- Willingness to learn; ability to pick up new skills and technologies quickly.
- Ability to develop strong market Knowledge with a sound awareness of the market/economic landscape.
- Regulatory knowledge as applicable for the role.
