Team description

The aim of the operational risk team is to enable the responsible and commercial development of Investec Bank PLC and its subsidiaries by promoting sound management of operational risk through learning, co-development and engagement.  We are a team of risk managers, spread across London, Reading, Guernsey, Mumbai, Dublin and Zurich, who regularly engage as a team and with various stakeholders across the whole bank.  Our day-to-day activities involve regular collaboration regarding new products & initiatives, material outsourcing arrangements, internal and external risk events, understanding operational risk inherent to the business and facilitating scenario analysis and control testing to enable proactive identification and management of risk.

Description of role and key responsibilities

We are seeking a Control Testing Analyst to join our Control Testing team based in Mumbai.  The role will have dual reporting lines into Investec Bank (Channel Islands) Limited (IBCI) and the Operational Risk team of Investec Bank PLC.

The Control Testing Analyst will be responsible for executing control testing activities across the Bank, ensuring that all control objectives are met and that any deficiencies are identified and escalated/reported.

Key responsibilities include:

·       Conduct control testing activities for IBCI, including but not limited to, designing appropriate control testing approaches and sample sizes, assessing control design and operating effectiveness, and agreeing appropriate remediation

·       Work closely with control owners and business stakeholders to understand the purpose of material controls, how they are performed and to assess the adequacy of the documentation of controls

·       Log the testing outcomes in the GRC system, Protecht

·       Operate in accordance with an appropriate schedule for reperforming tests to meet the requirements of the Corporate Governance Code

·       Report testing progress and outcomes to relevant stakeholders and forums

·       Work with technology to identify use of automation or artificial intelligence technology to enhance control testing process

Core skills and knowledge

Technical knowledge

• Experience in control testing within the banking Industry
• Strong understanding of risk management
• Auditing background Is a plus, but not requirement
