Credit Risk Agile Business Analyst (4743)

Description of role and key responsibilities

  • Provide significant contribution to the delivery of the Everest Programme through high quality Business Analysis & IT Development.
  • Hit all deadlines for work assigned within each sprint.
  • Provide Business Analysis and Development support to the team
  • Assist in enhancing the self-organising of the current SCRUM team
  • Become SME Expert in various business areas that rely on the Data Warehouse for their reporting e.g. Credit Risk, Regulatory, Finance..etc.
  • Assist in enhancing the performance of the Data Warehouse, as more requirements are added to the system
  • Work closely with key stakeholders e.g. Credit Reporting and Analytics, Capital, Finance and Credit teams.
  • Understand data warehousing strategy for the bank, helping to build functionality to facilitate improved quality and speed of key information across a range of business users. This will include
    • Enhancing the central Everest data store and associated warehouse used for aggregated risk reporting by Credit, Capital and Central treasury teams
    • Updating Master Data Management components to ensure consistency of data across all systems
  • Work within an Agile process to:
  • Monitor and drive all the teams' progress to completion;
  • Coordinate testing by developers and users;
  • Ensure that delivery meets requirements
  • Ensure that developments align with the bank's data strategy according to best practice in data gathering and usage across the business

Core skills and knowledge

Domain Knowledge

  • Experience of wide range of asset classes within a banking environment (syndicated loans, mortgages, bonds, asset backed securities, deposits, bilateral/commercial loans, foreign exchange, derivatives etc…)
  • Knowledge in the Credit Risk Domain
  • Knowledge of Data Warehousing principles and BI tools

Business Analysis

  • Exceptional Root cause analysis, plus defect / issue resolution
  • Excellent Requirements gathering skills i.e. identifying difference between real business needs and what the business has requested
  • Documentation i.e. Writes clear & concise User Stories & requirements
  • Hit deadlines regularly
  • Excellent Stakeholder Management & Communications Skills
  • Excellent project documentation skills (Business & Functional Requirements)
  • Manage UAT & Training

Technical Skills and Knowledge

  • Ability to write and understand SQL (T-SQL – Joins, Stored Procedures, Functions, Queries, Views, Triggers…etc)
  • SSIS & SSAS Skills and Knowledge (nice to have)
  • Business System Knowledge
  • Understanding Change Release Process (nice to have)
  • Code Releases (nice to have)
  • QA Testing (Integration & Regression)
  • Excellent Microsoft Office Skills
  • JIRA, Confluence
  • MS Visio
  • Advanced MS Excel (VBA is a plus)
  • POWER BI/MS Access (nice to have)
  • Sharepoint (nice to have)

Financial Knowledge

  • Knowledge of a bank's balance sheet & P&L
  • Knowledge of debits and credits


  • Understand the difference between Agile and waterfall
  • Can write good User Stories
  • Knowledge of Agile methodology e.g. SCRUM/KANBAN Framework

Preferred Qualifications

  • Agile Certification
  • ITIL qualification useful but  not essential
  • Business Analysis Certification
  • Certified Chartered Accountant (ACCA or equivalent)
  • Awareness of regulatory reporting requirements
  • Tenacity – take ownership of tasks and drive to completion
  • Effective time management and prioritisation
  • Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally
  • Ability to develop business relationships across the organisation to get effective solution delivery
