Team Description

Investec is undertaking a once-in-a-generation transformation to move to a fully cloud native & SaaS technology stack, entirely built on Azure. As part of this transformation, we are heavily leveraging D365 as the backbone of our business processes.

The D365 Digital & Technology team plays the central role in this transformation, both in shaping the blueprint for the future state and the role of D365 in that vision, and also in delivering broad and deep digitalisation, automation and data-driven insights.

Description of role and key responsibilities

This is the most senior technical role for D365 in the UK. It is accountable for the technical direction of the platform as a whole, and the technical quality of all solutions implemented in D365. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Strategic positioning of D365 Platform at Investec
  • Shaping of product roadmap and near-term delivery roadmap
  • Evangelism
  • Solution design
  • Definition of best practice / guardrails
  • Build-out and oversight of Platform team which maintains core platform and builds tooling to implement guardrails and other accelerators
  • Upskilling / enablement / mentoring of development teams aligned to business value streams
  • Thought leadership, influencing, coaching and mentoring, outside of traditional line management
  • Strategic engagement with Microsoft and its partners, to shape the D365 roadmap and maximise the benefit of new features, and also to optimise the mix of in-house and external skills aligned to delivery.

Core skills and knowledge

The ideal candidate for this role would have deep technical and business expertise in Microsoft Dynamics, with particular application to Banking.

Core skills include:

  • Excellent knowledge of Dynamics, Power Platform and Azure
  • Experience across the Microsoft Business Applications product e.g. Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, Omni-channel, CDP, etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with colleagues and other stakeholders at various levels of seniority
  • Passionate about digitalisation and the role of technology at the heart of business
  • Ability to coach, mentor, share knowledge and foster a learning environment
  • Organised, proactive and self-motivated
  • Flexible and responsive to change
  • Adept in Agile development methodologies and CI/CD
  • Knowledge of architectural patterns and approaches in a polyglot technology landscape
  • Demonstrable investment in technical skills, understanding of industry standards / current technology trends, and of D365 product
  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 configurations, customisation;
  • Workflow & Plug-in development for Dynamics 365;
  • Power Apps, Power Automate, Power Virtual Agents;
  • Model Driven Apps, Canvas Apps;
  • Common Data Service & Data Connectors;
  • Azure functions & logic apps;
  • Dynamics Web API including REST and OData

Other attributes that would be helpful, but not essential for the role.

Other beneficial attributes include:

  • Experience of banking across a range of financial products (savings, lending, advisory) and customer segments (individuals, companies)
  • Delivery of major business transformation and cloud projects
  • Experience of working with offshore teams and diverse cultures
  • Experience of establishing a Centre of Excellence or similar
  • Application development across a broad range of technologies
