Data Analyst - Business Intelligence (3950)

What we're looking for

The Programme Team has a delivery and strategic planning capabilities which together creates and maintains an achievable and affordable change portfolio for Wealth.

Specifically, the Client Data Portfolio delivers a coherent and cohesive change portfolio which is driven by the firm's strategic objectives, in particular, Data Centric Change, Data Analysis and Data visualisation. Our Strategic ambition is driving significant change that demands a greater focus on data.

We're looking for a highly skilled and pragmatic Data Analyst who can quickly interpret Business ideas into data requirements and deliver insight and Business Intelligence against them,

This is both a Business and Technology facing role. Engaging directly with senior business stakeholders to capture ideas, requirements and explore opportunities whilst whilst working with technology and platform teams to ensure application data delivery, integration and planning are in place to deliver Business Intelligence.

 

Your role 

  • Your primary role will be in the delivery of insight / Business Intelligence in support of any business change or strategy initiative.
  • Hands-on analysis of data using any available tools and visualisations.
  • This includes the acquisition and conforming of data to expose new business opportunity whilst ensuring a structured approach to data governance to provide coherence, accessibility, quality and control across our data estate.
  • In addition, you will lead the adoption of the common Azure Data Platform for Investec Wealth and Investment, providing oversight for data delivery as data is adopted onto that platform.
  • This includes the acquisition and conforming of data to expose new business opportunity whilst ensuring a structured approach to data governance to provide coherence, accessibility, quality and control across our data estate.
  • You will form excellent working relationships across business functions and third party suppliers.
  • You will work with management to identify hotspots and prioritise data related activity.
  • You will be confident and knowledgeable across all data disciplines with the ability to interact with a variety of functions including data architecture, data protection, development/engineering teams, Business data owners/stewards, product owners, project managers, scrum masters and testers.
  • You will locate and define new process improvement opportunities

 

What you bring to the table

  • A thorough understanding of current Data and Business Intelligence practices
  • Experience in delivering BI within Wealth Management (or Financial Services) using modern approaches and data technologies
  • A thorough understanding of Wealth Management business processes; familiar with the latest Wealth Management trends and challenges.
  • Extensive experience of influencing and delivering data centric change, in a complex multi-stakeholder environment.
  • The ability to influence business stakeholders in adoption of data centric ideas.
  • Experience of implementing databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.
  • Experience of data models, database design, development, data mining, engineering and segmentation techniques.
  • Current with Data Protection and Information Security trends and practical implementation of associated regulation.
  • A clear understanding of practical change management, across various methodologies.
  • Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings
  • Experience in establishing Data Governance and driving conformity across business functions.

Ideally, but not mandatory if experience can be demonstrated:

  • BS in Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management or Statistics
    • Full suite of Project/Programme management disciplines
    • Adept in MoSCoW, Process Mapping, Data Analysis and visualisation techniques.
    • Experience of data technologies including (Azure, SQL, Synapse, Data Vault, DataBricks, PowerBI, Qlikview etc)
    • Stakeholder identification, analysis and management
    • Organisation modelling, business process analysis and business change identification
    • Evaluating options, preparing and presenting business cases
    • Running effective workshops to understand business requirements
    • Defining and analysing requirements within user stories
