Team Description:

The Analytics team sits within a group of teams in the Data and AI domain. Analytics as a team aims to deliver technical and analytical expertise to support a data-driven culture within the Specialist Bank. The key responsibility is building processes that extract, manipulate and visualise data to enable the business to make informed data driven decisions.

Description of role and key responsibilities:

  • Endeavour to develop a deep understanding of each business area and use this knowledge to suggest ways to reduce cost and/or increase revenue using insights based on analytics.
  • Engage revenue generating and business enabling teams within the bank to understand their reporting and analytics requirements and take these requirements and convert them into an output for the business.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations as well as follow the team's change control process to deploy and update outputs into production.
  • Actively monitor failed report and investigate and apply appropriate fixes to the reports if they do not run and actively monitor the usage of outputs created and engage with stakeholders that are not using outputs.
  • Migrate existing analytics processes to using Power BI and or synapse Analytics where possible.
  • Work closely with data engineering to source all data from the “one data platform” (ODP). Identify any sources not currently in ODP and work with engineering to include them.

Core skills and experience:

Career Background:

3+ years' experience within the data and analytics industry.

Skills:

  • Proficient in SQL and Power BI.
  • Experience in Microsoft Cloud-based tools for Analytics E.g. Data bricks, Data factory, Synapse analytics, and Analysis services etc.
  • Knowledge and use of Python in exploring and manipulating data.
  • Exceptionally numerate and able to interpret information (including the use of Advanced Analytics techniques), to spot trends, “tell a story” back to the business.
  • Translate stakeholder requirements into relevant questions and answer them in a way to drive action and the growth of the Bank.
  • Excellent communication (both written and verbal).
  • Willingness to learn and ability to pick up new skills and technologies quickly.
  • Ability to design engaging and interactive outputs around data.
  • Market Knowledge: sound awareness of the market/economic landscape and knowledge of how the business functions.

Any other attributes that would be helpful, but not essential for the role:

Technical (IT) Skills:

  • Excellent Excel knowledge.
  • Knowledge of Omniscope, Tableau, Qlikview or similar tool.
  • Knowledge and experience in implementing advanced analytics/data science.
  • Database design and modelling.
  • Experience in developed applications using Power apps.
