Data Domain Lead – Private Client Technology (13585)

Investec – Where Out of the Ordinary Happens

At Investec, we do things differently. We're a leading international bank and wealth manager built on a culture of curiosity, entrepreneurial spirit and human connection. Ideas are heard, ambition is celebrated, and impact is encouraged. As part of a team that challenges convention and strives for outperformance, you'll help shape bold solutions for clients who expect something more than the ordinary.

Description of role and key responsibilities

The Data Domain Lead for Private Client Technology (PCT) is accountable for executing the data strategy across the Private Client domain – spanning banking, lending, investments, client servicing and operations data. This is a senior leadership role that combines hands-on data domain ownership with cross-functional influence, and the successful candidate will hold a seat at the PCT Manco (Management Committee), contributing to the overall direction of Private Client Technology.

A critical aspect of this role is providing visible leadership for PCT in India. The successful candidate will play a key role in growing, mentoring and integrating the PCT India data capability, ensuring that the India-based team is fully embedded in the PCT operating model and delivers high-quality outcomes in lockstep with onshore teams. Regular engagement with the India leadership team and travel to India will be expected.

The Data Domain Lead will align distributed data domain teams to the PCT data strategy and the broader UK Data and Analytics strategy, collaborating with cross-functional teams to translate Private Client business objectives into data outcomes. The role partners closely with the platform team, the data governance team, and the Analytics Enablement Lead (acting as the centre of excellence), feeding learnings and best practice back into the wider community.

Key Responsibilities

•     Develop and execute a comprehensive PCT data domain strategy that aligns with the UK Data and Analytics strategy and Private Client business priorities.

•     Represent the data domain at PCT Manco, contributing to the management and strategic direction of Private Client Technology as a whole.

•     Provide leadership for the PCT data capability in India – building, mentoring and retaining talent, embedding a one-team culture across geographies, and acting as a visible role model for PCT in India.

•     Lead data management initiatives across PCT data domains to ensure data quality, integrity, security and regulatory compliance (including FCA/PRA, GDPR and Consumer Duty considerations relevant to Private Client).

•     Partner with Private Client business units (Banking, Lending, Investments, Client Servicing, Operations) to identify data needs, surface opportunities for data-driven insight, and prioritise the data backlog.

•     Provide leadership and guidance to data engineering, analytics and BI teams within PCT, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability and continuous improvement.

•     Collaborate with the platform team, governance team and the Analytics Enablement Lead (centre of excellence) to apply and contribute to enterprise-wide standards and best practice.

•     Stay current with industry trends and best practices in data management, data governance, AI/ML and modern data platforms, applying them pragmatically within PCT.

•     Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels – from engineers and analysts through to Manco peers and executive leadership – to ensure alignment and understanding of data initiatives.

Core skills and knowledge

•     15+ Years of proven senior leadership experience in a data domain, data engineering or analytics function, ideally within financial services and the Private Client / Wealth / Banking space.

•     Demonstrated experience leading distributed teams across multiple geographies, with specific experience of building and leading capability in India strongly preferred.

•     Strategic thinker with the ability to translate Private Client business objectives into actionable data strategies and roadmaps.

•     Detail-oriented with a strong focus on data accuracy, quality and governance.

•     Innovative mindset with a passion for leveraging data and AI to drive measurable business value.

•     Ability to operate at Manco level – influencing peers, contributing to broader technology strategy, and representing the data agenda.

•     Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic work environment, balancing strategic delivery with hands-on problem solving.

•     Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating complex data concepts and analytics strategies to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

•     Experience with Power BI / Microsoft Fabric and Omniscope essential; broader experience with modern data platforms (Azure, Databricks, Snowflake or equivalent) highly desirable.

Any other attributes that would be helpful, but not essential for the role.

•     Experience working across UK and South Africa Investec entities.

•     Exposure to AI/ML productisation and responsible AI practices.

•     Track record of growing engineering or data talent in India and integrating offshore teams into onshore delivery models.
