Deskside Support Engineer

At Investec, technology is central to how our people perform, collaborate and serve our clients. We're looking for a Deskside Support Engineer to help deliver a premium, high-touch digital workplace experience for our colleagues across the business.

This is a role for someone who combines exceptional end-user support with being visible, trusted and proactive when supporting senior stakeholders and front-office users, while also driving automation, modern endpoint management and continuous improvement across our Modern Workplace environment.

You'll be joining a fast-paced financial services environment where stability, responsiveness, security and user experience really matter.

What you'll be doing

• Deliver high-touch, relationship-led technology support to Investec colleagues, including senior stakeholders and front-office users.
• Act as a trusted technology advisor, providing proactive support across devices, meeting rooms and collaboration platforms.
• Support high-impact events such as board meetings, investor presentations and market-sensitive activity.
• Own and manage incidents, service requests and escalations through the ITSM platform, ensuring SLAs and KPIs are met.
• Work closely with the Service Desk and global Workplace Services teams to resolve issues and drive root cause analysis.
• Develop PowerShell scripts and automation to reduce manual effort, improve efficiency and enable proactive remediation.
• Manage and optimise endpoints through Microsoft Intune / Endpoint Manager across Windows 11, macOS and mobile devices.
• Support Azure AD / Entra ID, conditional access, device compliance and Zero Trust-aligned endpoint controls.
• Support Citrix, Azure Virtual Desktop and Windows 365 environments.
• Use endpoint telemetry and performance trends to identify recurring issues and improve digital experience.
• Create high-quality documentation, reusable fixes and knowledge articles to support continuous improvement.
• Provide onsite support for workplace technology, including docks, monitors, mobile devices, AV/VC rooms, print, wireless and desk moves.
• Conduct regional site visits and basic network connectivity troubleshooting where required.

What we're looking for

You'll bring strong experience in Modern Workplace, End User Compute or digital workplace engineering, ideally within financial services or another regulated environment.

• 5–8+ years' experience in Modern Workplace / End User Compute.
• Strong PowerShell scripting capability.
• Hands-on experience managing endpoints through Microsoft Intune / Endpoint Manager.
• Experience supporting Windows 11 and macOS environments.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 / Office 365.
• Experience with Azure AD / Entra ID and conditional access.
• Familiarity with Citrix, Azure Virtual Desktop or Windows 365.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrable white-glove / VIP support experience.
• Good understanding of ITIL / ITSM best practice.
• Experience supporting hybrid cloud environments.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

Exposure to financial platforms such as Bloomberg, FactSet, Reuters / Refinitiv or Excel pricing tools would be highly advantageous, particularly where stability and sensitivity are critical.

It would be great if you also have

• ITIL Foundation.
• AZ-900: Azure Fundamentals.
• AI-900: AI Fundamentals.
• Experience with automation frameworks.
• Exposure to Zero Trust security models.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Defender for Endpoint.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers.
• Experience contributing to Knowledge Management and reusable support solutions.
