Role Purpose

Work closely with delivery teams including Development, Testing, Database and Change to provide development, configuration and support of our existing delivery/release capability into production, as well as assist in the migration over time onto our new Azure-based pipeline.

Proactively review and identify areas of improvement, respond to incidents and monitoring alerts as well as help recover systems and applications within agreed time-frames.

Provide technical leadership and real-world experience in modern delivery and deployment techniques and platforms including cloud, container, on-premises and physical systems.

Assist in the transition toward “infrastructure as code” and wider adoption of Automation using repeatable and auditable code and configuration artefacts that ensure monitored availability, reliability and quality releases.

Provide excellent customer service, expertise to technical groups such as business facing Development teams, Info-Sec and Operations both within the Wealth UK business unit but also across the wider Investec group.

Qualifications Required

Desired but not mandatory if equivalent experience can be demonstrated:

  • Educated to degree level in an IT related discipline
  • PRINCE II or PMP certified
  • Microsoft Certified Professional

Primary Accountabilities

  • Act with integrity at all times and embrace the philosophy of treating our customers fairly
  • Demonstrate technical competence in support and improving release management capabilities
  • Understand and apply Investec working practices, policies and procedures
  • Work effectively with other teams within Wealth UK and across the wider Investec group
  • Take proactive ownership of tasks from initial analysis through to successful completion
  • Ability to manage and report on own workload, prioritised to the business requirements
  • Help maintain system and application availability, providing technical guidance and support through the release process
  • Comply with the controls that are in place to mitigate risk, such as using the support desk systems and adhering to the change management processes and procedures and following a strict SDLC lifecycle.
  • Ensure management/stakeholders are aware of any issues in a timely manner.
  • Plan deployments in conjunction with development and change teams. Offer guidance and training to less experienced team members or new joiners
  • Liaise with users and key suppliers as required.
  • Recommend any changes to or improvements in both working practices and service delivery. This will include software and hardware upgrades, procedural changes, staff training and changes.
  • Familiarise yourself with all dependencies that influence system availability
  • Help coordinate releases, following company guidelines and industry regulation to reduce risk.

  • An understanding of Databasic / UniVerse / UniData and Redback / WebDE is not essential but could be an advantage
  • Previous experience of Wealth Management would be a distinct advantage. Similarly a general understanding of how the financial markets work would be helpful.
