About the Team:
Investec's Direct Lending team is one of Europe's largest and most experienced teams with a proven and continuous track record of deployment for over 10 years as a team investing in European lower mid-market senior secured debt opportunities. The Funds team was formed as a sub part of the Direct Lending team to assist in the identification and implementation of a Funds strategy. This includes the identification of: new fund strategies, potential investors and service providers as well as product development, launch and ongoing management of the Funds. In 2020, the Funds team successfully launched an inaugural debt fund raising €165m in committed capital, which was upsized to €250m in 2022. In June 2024, a second fund with a target of €500m was launched. Furthermore, the team incorporated a new investment management entity, Investec Alternative Investment Management Limited which has since been authorised by the FCA with the intention of managing new funds.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
The role of the Fund Analyst is to work on the product development, launch and ongoing management of new funds.
Ongoing management:
- Reviewing, updating and monitoring fund performance (including reconciling Gross IRR to Net IRR and calculating portfolio multiples)
- Cash flow management (including distributions, capital calls and credit facility utilisation)
- Risk management (legal, regulatory, reputational, etc.)
- Transaction management (Investments & Divestments)
- Overview of financial reporting to the board and investors (quarterly & annually)
- Financial Reporting to other key stakeholders (Credit Facility provider, FX counterparties)
- Asset valuation (Quarterly & annually)
- Treasury risk management (FX hedging)
- Relationships with key stakeholders (Investors, Administrators, Fund Manager, Depositary, Auditors, Lawyers, Agents)
In addition, the role includes identifying new strategies and assisting in the management of the newly incorporated Investment Management Entity. This will include:
- Working with internal stakeholders to ensure key processes are in place
- Monitoring and reviewing the Key Risk Indicators (“KRIs”) of exisiting funds
- Monitoring and reviewing Financial Reporting and Regulatory Reporting
- Management and analysis of the investor virtual data room
Core Skills and Knowledge:

- Experience of funds and institutional clients is key along with an aptitude to learn quickly
- Communication - an exceptional ability to distil information down and present it back to allow decisions to be made
- Financial & commercial acumen- a high degree of understanding of financials is needed to build business cases and develop the commercial understanding
- Restless Curiosity -you will be building a new business, so we seek someone who has the ability to look both inside the organisation and outside with curiosity
