What we're looking for

As the Head of Technology Solutions you will join the IWI Digital & Technology team leading the team of Product Engineering and Application Development teams that form the Technology Solutions function. You will work with the Business Change function and the Group Technology teams to provide technology services that runs the IW&I's day to day business and deliver changes that enable them to stay ahead of the competition.

IWI is on a really exciting growth journey that will involve modernising the core digital platforms across the business along with delivering differentiating capabilities to support our growth ambitions and this is a critical role to make sure that the product teams are best placed to deliver operational service and change and innovate at pace.

  • You are passionate about building a team culture that focuses on delivering the right business outcomes with the technology products, platforms and applications used within the business;
  • You have deep expertise in technology to inform and influence the business strategy and demonstrate how digital technology can help drive competitive advantage;
  • You are able to energise different groups of people, both technical and non-technical and bring them on the journey to adapt behaviours needed for digital business;
  • You can lead a team that are proud of their craft and willing to continuously change taking ownership to ensure that both internal and external customers are happy
  • You work with business change, architecture and information security disciplines to define the technology strategy and roadmap and are able to influence delivery priority against the roadmap;
  • You can balance the modernising the heritage technology estate and delivering business change needed with a considered view on technical debt;
  • You are a technology leader with a brilliant grasp of software engineering methods and tools and are able to adapt them to fit evolving lean agile product and platform teams;
  • As a people leader, you build large high performing teams that think of colleague and client experience in everything we do and focusing on people development, coaching and continuous feedback.
  • You embrace new innovation in technology and collaborate across IWI, across the group and with external partners bringing people together to deliver the right outcomes.

What you bring to the table

You have built and led large teams of engineers and developers through continuous change cycles and kept them motivated to continuously improve the service and deliver new solutions at pace;

You have expert knowledge of technology solutions, current trends and architectural design including services based approaches to solution design;

You have experience of using standardised business models as a means of driving technical architectures and COTS package implementation experience including large packages and custom solution design;

You provide leadership in technical and organisational planning in executing solution delivery programmes involving internal teams and multiple internal and external partners;

You manage relationships with supplier partners and external experts and create a community that readily jumps in to support and innovate to solve key business challenges;

You are a people person who can drive stakeholders and business partners, building strong relationships to manage conflicting priorities and build consensus. You can foster open and honest communication which anticipates expectations of various groups of people and get buy-in to the behaviour change required;

You have managed budgets and developed people and talent strategy that is key to digital business growth balancing growth and cost to serve clients;

  • Enterprise agility and Value Stream aligned teams with supported by communities of practice
  • Cloud (preferably Azure) technologies
  • Good knowledge or integration patterns and experience integrating with legacy systems
  • Experience with working practices such as TDD, continuous integration, continuous delivery and DevOps
  • Financial Services experience
  • ITIL
