Role Profile: High Net Worth Private Client  Business Developer

The role:

Responsible for originating new to bank High Net Worth private client relationships, focusing on our target market clients of High Net Worth entrepreneurs, family offices, professionals and intermediary partners across the Channel Islands. The role will also involve representing Investec as a key partner in the local professional and business community.

Key Responsibilites:

Clients

  • Develop and maintain an active sales plan tailored to the Jersey market, aligned with Investec's target client segments and business growth priorities.
  • Identify and acquire new clients through professional networks, referrals, and local partnerships
  • Leverage relationships with intermediaries, including Rathbones, trust companies, and family offices, to generate new business.
  • Partner with Locate Jersey and other inward investment bodies to connect with high-value relocators and entrepreneurs moving to the island.
  • Build strong awareness of the local regulatory environment, economic landscape, and client behaviours unique to Jersey's finance sector.
  • Use tools effectively to manage leads, referrals, and client data.
  • Ensure all client interactions uphold Investec's Consumer Duty and focus on delivering good client outcomes.

Targets

  • Identify and engage with new client opportunities that align with Investec's private client strategy in the Channel Islands.
  • Build and maintain a high-quality pipeline of prospective clients through both direct engagement and collaboration with intermediary networks.
  • Hold regular meetings with potential clients and partners to deepen relationships and understand evolving needs.
  • Collaborate with Relationship Managers to ensure seamless onboarding and cross-referrals to other areas of the Group (e.g. Lending, Treasury, or Rathbones Wealth Management).

Strategy & Commerciality

  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of Investec's private client strategy and how the Channel Islands business contributes to broader Group objectives.
  • Represent Investec within the local ecosystem - including Jersey Finance, Locate Jersey, Digital Jersey, and professional associations - to enhance brand visibility and thought leadership.
  • Develop strong knowledge of Investec's proposition and how it differentiates within the Jersey marketplace. 
  • Champion cross-referrals and collaboration across the Investec Group, leveraging opportunities with Rathbones Wealth Management.

Core Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of offshore private client services, including banking, lending, FX, and fiduciary structures.
  • Regulatory knowledge relevant to Jersey Financial Services Commission (JFSC) expectations.
  • High level of commercial acumen, relationship-building and influencing skills.
  • Proven ability to originate new business from both direct clients and intermediaries.
  • Strong communicator, confident networker, and strategic thinker.
  • Emotional intelligence and empathy in client engagement.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
