Role: Investment Administrator

Location: St Peter Port, Guernsey

Principal Role

To act in a vital support role to an individual or team of Investment Practitioners practicing in the sourcing, originating and managing of client investment mandates. This encompasses all elements of client take-on, client liaison, administrative support, process management and record-keeping.

Main Tasks

To assist the Investment Team in establishing and delivering against the overall strategic and quantitative goals (of client /mandate acquisition and profitable client-management).
Liaising with clients in relation to their investment portfolios and ongoing requirements with the assistance of Investment Practitioners. This expressly excludes the provision of investment advice, dealing and management. 
Responsibility for the client on-boarding procedures for all new clients to include:

  • Assisting Investment Managers with IW&I(CI) client collateral review, with client feedback and guidance where necessary to ensure accurate completion.
  • Due diligence and client screening checks via external databases on a risk based approach; namely Google, Dow Jones/Worldcheck. Assisting in the due diligence & take-on procedures required for new clients.
  • Provider of frontline compliance sign off for all new Low/Medium risk client accounts.
  • Responsibility for the coordination of Guernsey requirements for the UK Managed/Guernsey custody client on-boarding process.
  • Presentation of high risk accounts to the MLRO/MLCO to assist them with their HRCC preparation – relaying pertinent high risk factors in a structured and orderly fashion
  • Maintaining client records
  • Liaison with lawyers, accountants, trustees, advisers and third party relationships
  • Assistance with collating appropriate target client research
  • Attend appropriate client meetings with Investment Practitioners
  • Dealing with ongoing clients' management and requests on a daily basis – as required
  • To act with integrity at all times and embrace the philosophy of treating our customers fairly
  • Daily monitoring of the Cash and Credit report and rectification of any overdrafts
  • Close liaison with both the MLCO/MLRO/IM in meeting applicable legislative requirements, whilst being pragmatic and commercially minded
  • Preparation and amendment of procedures for review by the MLRO/MLCO
  • First line review of the Client Periodic Reviews, including sign off of low/medium risk client reviews
  • MIMO monitoring of client payments and funds received


  • Deal status tracking and reporting on future deals in the pipeline.
  • Preparation of client reports (valuations and reconciliation of client accounts) as required.
  • Maintain register, ensuring all complaints are logged.
  • Inputting of trades and reconciliation thereof.Client cash management.
  • To ensure that all business conducted in accordance with the rules, guidelines and expectations of the GFSC.
  • To ensure the individuals' portfolio of accounts are managed in accordance with the bank's EIF minute.
  • To ensure that business is aligned to the Investec values.


  • Good level of education with some relevant office experience
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal
  • Client relationship skills
  • Ability to understand and implement all relevant procedures & compliance considerations for client take on and maintenance.
  • Be able to research and assemble supporting documentation in respect of client take-on
  • Computer literacy
  • Attention to detail.
  • An understanding of the financial markets and instruments although useful is not essential.
  • A strong work ethic
