Investment Manager - Court of Protection (3019)

An exciting opportunity for an Investment Manager to join the the Court of Protection team. The manages discretionary portfolios valued at over £600m and provides financial advice for predominantly Deputies of the Court of Protection and also a number of private clients and trusts

Role Purpose

Working within a small established team, the role is to provide support in the day to day management of client accounts in a predominantly client facing role.

Primary Accountabilities

  • Manage and review client portfolios, making decisions or recommendations which reflect the needs and risk profile of the individual client and be in accordance with the firm`s stated research and suitability processes
  • Speak and write to clients on a daily basis
  • Work with the team to build a comprehensive knowledge of the client's financial position to keep updated and relevant KYC
  • Travel to client meetings throughout the UK when required
  • Ensure that the investment process positions the clients within the correct suitability bandings
  • Where appropriate to attend meetings with clients to discuss and outline investment strategy and confirm suitability.
  • Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of investment products, market and professional expertise and an understanding of regulatory requirements to deliver the best level of client service
  • Assist to maintain and enhance relationships with existing clients where required
  • Identify and develop opportunities for the client within their required risk tolerance and capacity for loss
  • Execute the firm's operating procedures effectively and, for all regulated activities, as required by the FCA
  • Contribute to initiatives in the team, office or business that improve the strength and quality of the business and the service provided to clients
  • Work to identify and develop new business opportunities

Skills, Knowledge & Experience Required

  • Completed CISI Chartered Wealth Manager qualification or equivalent
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong explanatory and presentation skills
  • Strong IT/computer skills and social media skills
  • Strong numeracy and literary skills
  • Knowledge of regulatory obligations in relation to your role as a CF30 and as an Approved Person
  • Knowledge of compliance requirements, including but not limited to: Data Protection, AML, Market Abuse, Fraud Awareness, Advising & Selling, Conduct Risk, Client Assets, Bribery & Corruption, Financial Crime, Gifts Policy

Regulatory requirements

Controlled function: CF30 Customer Function

  1. Advising on investments other than a non-investment insurance contract (but not where this is advising on investments in the course of carrying on the activity of giving basic advice on a stakeholder product) and performing other functions related to this such as dealing and arranging
  2. Acting in the capacity of an investment manager and carrying on functions connected to this;
