What does the Fund Solutions team at Investec do?

The Fund Solutions team at Investec provides bespoke financing solutions to funds and their managers.  With decades of experience the team is recognised as a market leader in the industry.  We draw on our deep expertise to create tailored financing solutions for our clients, across all stages of the fund life and capital structure.

What does the role involve?

You will be a Solicitor in the Legal Team at Investec Bank plc with primary focus supporting the Fund Solutions business. This role sits within the Fund Solutions business where you will be expected to take a lead role in negotiating and executing financing transactions for the team in a risk conscious way.

 You may also be called on to support other lending desks as needed.  In particular you will perform the following key functions:
•    You will be taking a lead role in the negotiation and execution of all transaction documentation for the Fund Solutions business (including term sheets, facility agreements, security agreements and all related documentation). You will review and comment on legal due diligence reports and take/recommend appropriate action/mitigation steps.
•    You will ensure that legal documentation entered into by the Bank is appropriate for the transaction. You will manage external counsel where necessary, identify legal risks and ensure the transaction reflects the Bank's risk appetite and complies with our internal credit approvals and policies from time to time.
•    You will build strong and effective relationships with key stakeholders including our clients, external banks, external counsel, team members and business support functions, to ensure seamless transaction execution and management of legal risk.  The nature of the role will mean a high degree of exposure to clients and key stakeholders in the Fund Solutions business and wider Private Equity Client Group.  
•    You may be called on to assist in the structuring of transactions and the documenting of credit and investment proposals as required including reviewing fund documentation as part of a preliminary deal assessment process.
•    You will provide support and legal advice in respect of the financing channels of the Fund Solutions business, including managing and coordinating documentation and transaction processes involving other banks and other investors and market participants.
•    You will be an active member of the legal team including attending legal team meetings, training sessions and other legal team requirements.  



What kind of skills and attributes are we looking for?

•    You will be a lawyer with 5-7 years PQE gained in the banking and finance team at a leading UK or US law firm (previous in house experience would be beneficial but not essential).  
•    You will have substantial experience leading on financing transactions including drafting and negotiating a wide range of banking and finance documents, including LMA based finance documents.  Relevant experience working on fund finance transactions and knowledge of the fund finance market will be a plus as will any experience working on NY law governed financings.
•    You will have excellent organisational and prioritising skills with the ability to manage multiple work demands.  You will show stamina and resilience under pressure.  
•    You will have a solid understanding of the drivers of profitability and an interest in developing a broader understanding of commercial issues relevant to the Fund Solutions business and wider Bank.
•    You will be able to establish strong working relationships with your colleagues within the Fund Solutions team and wider Bank with the highest level of professionalism and integrity.
