What is the role?
Investec's Risk Solutions business provides strategic hedging solutions designed to meet the rates and FX needs of our lending and fund clients. We are seeking a junior to mid-level OTC derivatives lawyer and regulatory enthusiast to join our legal team to provide support to the FX and rates business within the Risk Solutions team. The role has both a transactional and a regulatory advisory dimension with a particular focus on funds but also some finance linked transactions.”
What does the role involve?
1. Providing assistance to our FX and rates businesses, in particular our Funds Solutions business, on transactions including reviewing deal documentation and Fund structure charts as well as constitutional documentation, identifying legal, regulatory, credit and other implementation issues relevant to a transaction and providing general support and advice. The role will require liaising with other internal departments (Compliance, Credit, Trade Support and other risk departments).2. Advising business stakeholders and project teams on key industry developments such as LiBOR transition, Initial Margin, 2021 ISDA Definitions and various ISDA protocols.3. Assisting and advising on regulatory change and implementation affecting the business.4. Advising on issues relevant to new products, and drafting of and maintaining relevant documentation templates
What core skills and knowledge do we require?
1. Qualified to practice in England and Wales with 1-4 years PQE.2. Experienced OTC derivatives lawyer with knowledge of transactional matters as well as derivatives law and regulation gained either in Private Practice or In- house. 3. Experience in drafting and negotiating a range of both standard and complex derivatives documentation as well as other ancillary documentation such as guarantees, novation and amendment agreements and confirmations. Experience in drafting ISDA documentation for fund clients is desirable. Some knowledge of CDEAs, GMRAs and GMSLAs desirable but not essential. Team player, proactive and enjoys working closely with the key business stakeholders as well as the wider Legal team and other functions within the bank.4. Interested in transactional work including regulatory implementation.5. Good commercial awareness.6. Can think on their feet and provide on the spot legal and regulatory advice as well as dealing with general queries that arise from various hedging business areas.
