What is the role?

Investec's Risk Solutions business provides strategic hedging solutions designed to meet the rates and FX needs of our lending and fund clients.  We are seeking a junior to mid-level OTC derivatives lawyer and regulatory enthusiast to join our legal team to work closely with and provide support to the FX and rates business within our Risk Solutions team. The role has both a transactional and a regulatory advisory dimension and covers a wide variety of  funds and lending linked transactions. 

What does the role involve?

1. Providing assistance to our FX and rates businesses, on transactions including reviewing deal documentation and Fundwell as constitutional documentation, identifying legal, regulatory, credit and other implementation issues relevant to a transaction and providing general support and advice.

2. Liaising with a broad range of internal departments (Compliance, Credit, Trade Support and other risk departments ( including Compliance, Credit, Trade Support and other departments).
3. Advising business stakeholders and project teams on key industry developments such as LiBOR transition, Initial Margin, 2021 ISDA Definitions and various ISDA protocols.
4. Assisting and advising on regulatory change and implementation affecting the business.
5. Advising on issues relevant to new products, and drafting of and maintaining relevant documentation templates

What core skills and knowledge do we require?

1. Qualified to practice in England and Wales with 1-4 years PQE.
2. Experienced  of OTC derivatives  with knowledge of transactional matters as well as derivatives law and regulation gained either in Private Practice or In- house. 
3. Experience in drafting and negotiating a range of both standard and complex derivatives documentation as well as other ancillary documentation such as guarantees, novation and amendment agreements and confirmations. Experience in drafting ISDA documentation for fund clients is desirable. Some knowledge of CDEAs, GMRAs and GMSLAs desirable but not essential. Team player, proactive and enjoys working closely with the key business stakeholders as well as the wider Legal team and other functions within the bank.
4. Interested in transactional work including regulatory implementation.
5. Enjoys looking at transactions with a proactive, commercial lens. 
6. Can think on their feet and provide on the spot legal and regulatory advice as well as dealing with general queries that arise from various hedging business areas.
