Role Profile

Description of role and key responsibilities:

The role:

The Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Manager is responsible for leading the Bank's financial planning, forecasting and performance management activities, providing insightful analysis and commercial support to enable informed decision-making across the business.

The role is also responsible for the preparation and submission of financial and regulatory reporting to the South African Reserve Bank (SARB), ensuring submissions are accurate, timely and compliant with Group reporting requirements.

Working closely with senior stakeholders across the Bank, the role will develop high-quality management information and business insights to support the delivery of the Bank's strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities:

Financial Planning & Forecasting
•    Lead the annual budgeting process across the Bank. 
•    Lead the Bank's monthly forecasting process and longer-term financial planning.
•    Develop and maintain robust financial models to support planning and decision-making. 
•    Challenge assumptions and provide independent analysis of business forecasts. 
•    Monitor forecast accuracy and identify opportunities to improve the planning process. 
•    Support development of the Bank's strategic and financial plans.

Performance Reporting & Analysis
•    Produce monthly Team and Executive & Board financial performance reporting. 
•    Analyse performance against budget, forecast and prior year, identifying key financial drivers and emerging trends.
•    Provide commentary on key business drivers, emerging trends and financial risks. 
•    Develop and enhance management information, KPIs and performance metrics. 
•    Deliver forward-looking insight to support commercial decision-making. 
•    Identify opportunities to improve profitability, efficiency and returns. 

Business Partnering
•    Act as a trusted finance partner to business leaders.  
•    Provide financial analysis to support pricing, product development and business growth. 
•    Challenge financial assumptions and promote sound commercial decision-making. 
•    Build strong relationships across business functions. 

South African Reserve Bank (SARB) Reporting
•    Prepare and submit all financial and regulatory returns required by the South African Reserve Bank. 
•    Ensure submissions are accurate, complete and delivered within regulatory deadlines. 
•    Perform reconciliations between SARB returns, management information and financial records. 
•    Liaise with Group Finance and other stakeholders regarding SARB reporting requirements. 
•    Maintain appropriate documentation, controls and governance over SARB reporting processes. 
•    Monitor regulatory reporting developments and implement changes where required. 
•    Support internal and external audit reviews relating to SARB reporting. 

Continuous Improvement
•    Identify opportunities to simplify and improve Finance processes. 
•    Drive efficiencies through automation and standardisation. 
•    Contribute to Finance transformation initiatives.
•    Support development of best practice financial planning and reporting.

Essential Criteria 

Core Skills and Knowledge:

Essential
•    Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent). 
•    Experience in Financial Planning & Analysis. 
•    Strong financial modelling and analytical capability. 
•    Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. 
•    Experience of producing Board & Executive level reporting. 
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
•    Strong stakeholder management and business partnering capability. 
•    High attention to detail and commitment to data quality. 

Desirable
•    Banking or financial services experience. 
•    Knowledge of South African Reserve Bank (SARB) reporting. 
•    Experience using Power BI or similar business intelligence tools. 
•    Understanding of banking profitability, capital and liquidity metrics. 
•    Experience of financial planning systems and ERP solutions.
