About the Role: 

The Network Specialist is seen as a technical expert in core networking and security infrastructure and technology. This role is highly technical and hands-on, focusing on the management and daily operations of the core networking and connectivity infrastructure, along with the network security framework. It involves troubleshooting complex operational issues, particularly concerning trading and exchange connectivity, while also delivering exceptional support to internal business units. You should have a comprehensive understanding of core networking concepts and technologies, network security technologies, and trading connectivity, particularly in a high-impact, mission-critical environment where service excellence is paramount and exceeding expectations is the standard.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

• Providing monitoring and support for all core network and security technologies and solutions to ensure optimal performance. 
• Collaborating with internal ITS teams to swiftly address and resolve issues as they arise. • Implement changes to align with the evolving requirements of the business
• Managing vendor relationships to effectively troubleshoot and resolve core network related problems. 
• Conducting preventive maintenance, including timely software and hardware upgrades, to enhance system reliability. 
• Overseeing the technical lifecycle management for all core network services to ensure they remain current and effective.
• Adhering to and upholding established network policies and procedures to maintain compliance and standards.
• Documenting network processes, generating reports, and tracking metrics as required to provide visibility and accountability.
• Identifying and evaluating new technologies that can enhance and improve the existing network infrastructure.
• Providing on-call standby support on a rota basis and being available for extended hours as needed to ensure continuous availability of core network services.

Core Skills and Knowledge: 

• Possess hands-on experience in core network and security technologies within a global enterprise environment. 
• Have a strong background in trading and exchange network solutions and connectivity.
• Will be adept at leading the resolution of complex incidents and problems, demonstrating expertise in navigating challenging situations.
• Attention to detail will be evident in all aspects of your work, coupled with a genuine willingness to assist business units and colleagues alike. 
• Familiarity with a diverse range of testing tools, networking technologies, and troubleshooting techniques, enabling you to effectively diagnose and resolve intricate technical issues related to services, applications, and network hardware and software. 
• Skilled in implementing changes to the infrastructure and network environment with minimal downtime, adhering strictly to established change control processes.
• Experience in tracking incidents, requests, and changes using IT Service Management (ITSM) systems, ensuring that tickets are consistently updated, and clients are regularly informed throughout the lifecycle of each request until completion and closure.

• Cloud networking concepts and configurations
• Palo Alto Firewalls (NGFW, NGTP, Appliance and Virtual)
• Palo Alto App-ID, User-ID, URL Filtering, Wildfire, Global Protect, SSL Decryption, VPN and Panorama
• Palo Alto Global Protect · Load balancing Platforms (Citrix Netscaler) · Network Security products (including IDS, IPS, DLP) 
• Network monitoring, management & alerting 
• Automation concepts and technologies (Ansible, Python, Terraform)
• ITSM systems (Service Now)

Technical Certification:

It would be desirable and advantageous if you have the following certification or demonstrable working experience in the following:

• Cisco CCNA / CNNP
• Palo Alto PCNSE / PCNSA
• Juniper · Forescout FSCA
• Information Security certification (e.g., IISP/CISA/CISM/CISSP/ISA) 
• Microsoft Azure Fundamentals
• ITILv3 foundation or higher
