Team Description;-

A provider of residential and commercial development and investment finance to institutional and private clients.

This role is for an individual to work within the Corporate Real Estate part of the business i.e. lending to large corporates, real estate funds.


Role Description;-

This role is to originate property loans in the residential and commercial real estate markets within the UK.

The role will primarily involve the following:

  • Originate and arrange property lending opportunities within the team's target markets and jurisdictions. Target levels of new business generation to be agreed with your line manager. This will involve preparing and executing business plans to attract new to Bank customers.
  • Detailed analysis of new deals, including scrutinising customers, detailed financial analysis and property due diligence.
  • Structure new opportunities – pricing, leverage, covenants, security etc.
  • Lead negotiations between Borrower and Bank throughout the indicative term sheet stage.
  • Review or prepare credit applications and present transactions to Real Estate Deal Forum and the Bank's Credit Committee.
  • Overview, with the assistance of portfolio managers and analysts, the post-credit due diligence process, including review of legal documentation, valuation reports and QS reports.
  • Overview, with the assistance of portfolio managers and analysts, each deal through to repayment ensuring all conditions imposed are complied with throughout. Be responsible for on-time annual reviews and contractual expiries.
  • Work on a collaborative basis across the Bank through cross business introductions.
  • Day to day management of analysts and portfolio managers within the team. To include coaching and assessment of team members. Responsible for junior members of the team's career progression and development.
  • Ensure operational and relationship excellence, both internally and with clients


Core skills and knowledge;-

  • Track record of originating real estate debt within the UK market, with development lending experience.
  • In depth property lending market knowledge across multiple asset classes.
  • Ability to identify target clients fitting the profile of the Bank, as per the prescribed strategy of the Real Estate team and within the Bank's risk appetite.
  • Strong negotiating skills and experience working with institutional clients and their demands.
  • Strong networking and relationship management skills, with an ability to work within tight deadlines.
  • The applicant to already have deep relationships with sponsors and third party advisors within the UK real estate market.    
  • Extensive understanding / experience of structuring real estate debt and the associated documentation (detailed term sheets, LMA documentation etc.)
  • Ability to review and analyse business plans, including an ability to evaluate covenant strength and strong cash flow understanding.
  • Strong presentation skills - externally and internally, including credit process.
  • Ability to work across teams in the Bank, including: credit committees, Bank executives, legal etc.
  • Regulatory Knowledge as applicable to role (compulsory).
