- Ensure requirements are clearly structured, testable, and aligned to business objectives.
2. Payments Scheme & Domain Application
- Apply working knowledge of UK and European payment schemes (e.g. Faster Payments, CHAPS, SEPA, SWIFT) to requirements definition.
- Interpret scheme rules, message standards (including ISO 20022 where applicable), settlement considerations, and exception handling flows in a functional context.
- Support regulatory and scheme-driven change by translating obligations into clear and implementable requirements.
- Ensure functional artefacts accurately reflect payment lifecycle behavior from initiation through to settlement and reporting.
3. Backlog Readiness & Delivery Support
- Prepare and maintain backlog items in a “ready for delivery” state.
- Define clear acceptance criteria and support delivery teams with clarification throughout the development lifecycle.
- Participate in refinement sessions and provide ongoing requirement clarification during sprints.
- Support implementation, testing, and validation to ensure delivered solutions meet agreed requirements.
4. Process & Operational Alignment
- Define and document business processes and workflows impacted by payment changes.
- Identify upstream and downstream impacts across systems and operational teams.
- Ensure operational considerations (e.g. reconciliation, exception handling, reporting) are reflected in functional requirements.
- Support operational teams in understanding functional changes and system behavior
5. Traceability, Governance & Change Control
- Maintain end-to-end traceability from business requirement through to delivered functionality.
- Assess and document the impact of requirement changes, ensuring appropriate review and approval.
- Produce and maintain documentation in line with governance, audit, and regulatory expectations.
6. Stakeholder Collaboration & Vendor Interaction
- Engage effectively with UK and Mumbai stakeholders across product, engineering, operations, and risk functions.
- Where applicable, support engagement with third-party vendors to clarify functional requirements and validate expected outcomes.
- Share domain knowledge and lessons learned within the OPP team.
