As part of a team that challenges convention and strives for outperformance, you'll help shape bold solutions for clients who expect something more than the ordinary.
Investec is investing in the future of Transaction Banking, creating a modern, client-centric proposition designed to support the evolving needs of corporate clients. This is an exciting and unique opportunity to join at a formative stage of the journey, with the ability to influence strategy, shape new capabilities and help build a differentiated franchise. You will have the opportunity to combine strategic thinking, commercial leadership and product innovation to deliver meaningful outcomes for clients while helping scale one of the bank's key growth priorities.
The Corporate Transaction Banking Product Management function shapes, delivers and governs the end-to-end Corporate Transaction Banking proposition and product agenda across Corporate Banking. You will bring strong payments expertise and innovation leadership to help drive a best-in-class product management team and proposition to clients.
Description of role
As the Payments Product Lead, you will own the Payments portfolio from insight and strategy through to development, launch, optimisation and retirement. You will be accountable for the roadmap, commercial performance, customer and colleague journeys, product governance and future capability across domestic, international and bulk payment schemes.
You will act as the Payments subject matter expert and senior product lead, bringing product discipline, curiosity and client centric thinking to complex payment infrastructure. You will balance immediate delivery with long-term architecture, resilience and scalability, translating client, operational, regulatory and financial requirements into clear product choices.
You will shape innovation across domestic and cross-border payments while applying rigorous readiness standards to new schemes and capabilities and influencing our payments roadmap.
Key responsibilities
- Own the Payments strategy, proposition roadmap and full lifecycle across domestic, international and bulk payments and collections.
- Shape and launch new products and schemes, and optimise existing propositions to improve client value, adoption, automation and commercial growth.
- Translate complex client, operational, finance and regulatory needs into scalable payment and platform capabilities and own customer and colleague journeys across the lifecycle of the payment proposition
- Own business cases, forecasts, pricing and product economics; track revenue, volumes, usage, service, complaints, risk and benefits realisation.
- Use client research, behavioural insight, market trends, competitor analysis, prototypes and testing to identify and validate opportunities.
- Work hand in hand with core stakeholders to assess technical feasibility, legal and regulatory compliance, operational readiness and product risks before launch or material change, balancing priorities between immediate outcomes and long-term growth.
- Act as the Payments subject matter expert, guiding senior stakeholders and coaching colleagues in product management disciplines.
Key performance areas
- Strategic leadership: Clear Payments strategy, prioritised roadmap and successful delivery of future capabilities.
- Commercial performance: Sustainable growth in revenue, volumes, adoption, profitability and pricing effectiveness.
- Client outcomes: Simple, transparent and consistent payment journeys and strong service outcomes.
- Product governance: Effective lifecycle management, scheme compliance, controls, resilience and risk management.
- Delivery excellence: disciplined implementation of new schemes, product enhancements and regulatory change.
Core skills and knowledge
- Proven senior product leadership within Commercial and/or Corporate Transaction Banking across domestic, international and bulk payments, taking products from insight and concept through launch and optimisation.
- Strong scheme expertise, including domestics rails, cross-border payments, SEPA, BACS direct credit and direct debit origination and the introduction of new payment capabilities.
- Commercial and analytical strength across business cases, pricing, forecasting, P&L drivers, benefits tracking and data-led decisions.
- Ability to simplify complex topics, make decisions in ambiguous environments and balance client, commercial, risk and operational priorities.
- Knowledge of future payments transformation: tokenisation, digital currency and emerging payment infrastructure, with curiosity about practical application.
- Excellent influencing and relationship-building skills across senior internal and external stakeholders.
- High agency, sound judgement and a track record of coaching others and embedding strong product practice.
Mandatory skills and attributes
- To act with integrity at all times and embrace the Consumer Duty principles and the philosophy of treating customers fairly.
