12 month Fixed Term Contract
Investec's Asset Finance Group are seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Portfolio Analyst to join the AFG Analytics team. In this external reporting role, you will ensure the timely and accurate reporting of portfolio data and performance to external stakeholders including the Bank of England (BoE), the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), and the Finance & Leasing Association (FLA). You will work with Excel, SQL, and other analytics tools, contributing to the development of best-in-class analytical and contract management systems, and help broaden data literacy across the wider business.
You will be involved in various projects such as consumer duty reporting, new business numbers, portfolio performance reporting as well as RAF. This role will also heavily involved in the A-IRB project in terms of model build support from a data perspective.
The ideal candidate for the role will be an experienced Data Analyst with familiarity of the Consumer Duty regime, and and experience reporting to external bodies, such as the BoE, FCA and FLA. We will also consider candidates who don't have experience reporting to external bodies, but who come with either of Asset Finance / Lending data experience, or experience in Financial Services as a minimum.
What will you be doing?
- Produce timely portfolio data and performance reports for external stakeholders (BoE, FCA, FLA) and ensure data accuracy and completeness.
- Utilise Excel and SQL on a daily basis; apply a working knowledge of related tools to manipulate, summarise, and present data.
- Help build the capabilities of the wider business through effective communication, training, and liaison with Investec Group functions as opportunities arise.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of best-in-class analytical and contract management systems.
- Regularly present findings at team technical and portfolio review meetings in a clear and accessible manner.
- Collaborate with the team to identify business needs for new models, frameworks, calculators and their design.
- Develop a deep understanding of Asset Finance deals from a risk measurement and strategy perspective.
- Assist with business demand for management information as required
What are we looking for?
- Prior experience reporting portfolio performance data.
- Exposure to regulatory bodies such as BoE and FCA (desirable)
- Experience with data related to Asset Finance /Lending or broader Banking / Financial Services (essential)
- Strong ability to organise and summarise datasets gathered from discussions / information gathering from databases
- Proficient in SQL (Scripting, Coding) and capable of handling large datasets; comfortable with ETL: data extraction, transformation, and loading concepts.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); good working knowledge of Excel VBA and Pivot Tables.
- Logical, organised, and detail-oriented with a keen eye for data quality.
- Ability to convey complex ideas to a non-technical audience
- Can-do attitude and willingness to roll up sleeves and get involved.
Desirable, (non-essential), skills
- Experience using Power BI for reporting and dashboards.
- Project planning and management experience.
- Experience delivering presentations to stakeholders.
