About the team

Investec Alternatives sits within Private Markets and Alternatives and is building its off-balance sheet funds and funding capability as a strategic growth priority.

The team is focused on developing capital-efficient solutions that meet client needs while drawing on Investec's specialist expertise, deep client relationships and distinctive deal flow. This is an exciting opportunity to join a developing platform with real strategic importance, helping to shape how we build, launch and oversee scalable fund solutions across the business.

You'll work closely with the wider Investec Alternatives team, lending desk heads with fund strategies, internal support functions, and external fund service providers including lawyers, placement agents and administrators.

What will I be doing?

As Product Manager, you'll play an important role in shaping the Investec Alternatives platform, helping to turn market opportunities into well-structured, scalable and operationally robust fund solutions.

This is a hands-on role that brings together investment teams, internal stakeholders and external service providers to support effective product development, governance, controls, compliance, operations and investor reporting.

You'll be responsible for helping to establish and manage a scalable funds operating platform, using both internal capabilities and external providers across areas such as:

• Fund administration
• Accounting, audit, capital calls, distributions and waterfall calculations
• Investor communication and reporting
• Back and middle office capabilities
• Custodian arrangements
• Cash management, bank accounts and hedging
• Valuation policies and methodologies

You'll also support the development of bank-wide policies to clarify ownership, controls and reporting, while maintaining operational documentation for investor due diligence and regulatory requirements.

A key part of the role will be supporting compliance, performance and risk management across the fund platform. This will include monitoring fund KRIs, setting and reporting on fund KPIs with the relevant business unit, assessing legal, tax and regulatory requirements, documenting risk processes and compliance monitoring, and helping to oversee Investec's fund-related legal and regulatory obligations.

You'll also support new fund establishment by helping to evaluate commercial rationale and potential, assess external fundraising feasibility, determine appropriate fund structures, test fit with infrastructure and risk appetite, assess key regulatory implications including AIFMD, identify operational and compliance risks, and support launch execution with the relevant business units.

What do I need to bring?

We're looking for someone with relevant experience in funds, investment management or institutional client environments, with the ability to learn quickly and apply sound judgement in a developing business area.

You'll need strong financial and commercial acumen, including the ability to build business cases, assess product economics and understand the commercial rationale behind new fund concepts. You'll also bring curiosity and market awareness, with the confidence to identify opportunities, challenge assumptions and understand the needs of external investors.

Strong communication skills will be important, as you'll need to distil complex information, support clear decision-making and build trusted relationships across a broad stakeholder group.

Previous experience working in a fund administrator, product function or investment management environment would be highly valuable. A qualified accountancy background would also be helpful, but is not essential.
