The Digital Savings Product Function

This role fits into the Digital Savings product function, a newly formed area at Investec. This area is building a new operating model from top to bottom, and this is an exciting opportunity to work closely with the business to tailor the technology to build a great product. The two main products are the instant access savings as well as a fixed rate saver product with challenging deadlines to meet,

This role provides the single voice of the vision for the Digital Savings product, and acts as the daily decision maker for the team of 8 people . The product owner has a significant role in maximizing the value produced by the team and ensuring stories meet the business needs and supporting the team as a proxy for requirements.

You will be responsible for:

  • Understanding the commercial objectives and the ambition to contribute to business outcomes.
  • Translate product roadmap features into well-defined product requirements including features, user stories, and acceptance test criteria.
  • Actively participate in solution design thinking.
  • Manage prioritization of the backlog (features and technical) and manage and develop user stories
  • Be a daily decision maker for the team, with day to day stand ups
  • Analyse business requirements to create clear product backlog items
  • Maximise the value of the product and manage the product backlog items to completion
  • Managing internal stakeholders and forging key relationships with compliance, legal, financial crime and fraud
  • Collaborate with the product manager and partners across the business to co-develop a roadmap and drive products and features from concept to launch in a fast-paced environment.
  • Work with the Product Manager to contribute to vision, roadmap and content presentations.
  • Work in an agile environment and continuously review the business needs, refine priorities, outline milestones and deliverables, and identify opportunities and risks.
  • Identify ways to improve processes so they are lean and efficient while meeting business delivery requirements in line with the backlog

What we are looking for:

  • Experience working in the FS industry, particularly in client facing roles (desirable)
  • Prior experience as a Digital Product Owner (in any industry) would be valuable, although not essential for candidates who can demonstrate excellent FS industry experience and desire to learn the PO role
  • Knowledge of Agile methodology.
  • Ability to build a strong partnership with stakeholders and demonstrate the commercial value of technology solutions.
  • Strong analytical skills, and effective at influencing and negotiation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, with an ability to effectively communicate technical concepts and technologies to varied stakeholders.
  • Good organisational skills, with the ability to perform under pressure and management of multiple priorities with competing demands for resources.
  • Innovative. Persistent & determined.
  • Creative, problem-solver, collaborative, curious.
  • Evidence of strategic and commercial thinking.
  • Loves working in a team and collaborating with people to make things happen.
  • Highly motivated to prioritise and manage workload and create and meet critical deadlines.
