Team Description
The Prudential Advisory and Reporting department consists of the following areas:
- Regulatory Reporting
- Capital planning
- Prudential Policy
- Regulatory Information Technology
Susanne Preece is head of Prudential Advisory and Reporting and reports directly to Marle van der Walt, Chief Financial Officer. The wider team has responsibility for all aspects of Investec's prudential regulatory requirements.
Description of role and key responsibilities
The objective of the role is to strengthen the policy team within the Prudential Advisory and Reporting team with expertise in the following areas:
- Maintain a regulatory tracker daily
- Assess and review consultation papers and their relevance to Investec, including the production of detailed impact assessments. This includes focus on the PRA consultation and implementation of Basel 3.1
- Advice the business on the appropriate capital treatment for their business/ trades and provide solutions to capital related issues or concerns
- Work with the wider Prudential Advisory and Reporting team covering all aspects of regulatory reporting, including COREP reporting requirements, Pillar 3 disclosures, Bank of England reporting and other ad hoc requests
- Make presentations to various relevant committees/forums in the group
- Actively involved in the interpretation of Pillar 3 requirements and have overall control of the disclosures produced and published in the market, including capital disclosures produced for all the silo entities
- Involved in the production of the Investec plc Recovery Plan if required.
- Document regulatory methodologies and capital treatment of complex structures/ transactions
- Review legal documentation for capital sufficiency
- Document regulatory policies
Core Skills and Knowledge
Technical knowledge & experience:
- Expert knowledge of the Basel 3/ CRD IV rules and associated CP's (including practical application)
- Very good knowledge of the final Basel standards published by the Basel Committee in December 2017 – Basel 3.1
- Good understanding of CRRII rules and a good grasp on the PRA rulebook and how it interacts with onshored EU regulation
- Good understanding of strategic capital concepts
- Detailed financial markets product knowledge with regulatory rule book overlap
- Good understanding of the structure of the balance sheet
- Good knowledge of capital requirements under the advanced approach Is an advantage
Skills:
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Systematic approach in analysing and solving problems
- Determination to ‘challenge' with the outcome of producing quality output
- Ability to communicate at all levels of management
- Ability to meet tight deadlines
