Investec is seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior .NET Engineer to join our Digital & Technology team in Mumbai. The successful candidate will lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable .NET applications, provide technical leadership, and collaborate with product owners, PMO, and architecture to realize business goals. The role requires strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills to drive quality and continuous improvement.

Core skills and knowledge:

• Experience:  8+ years of software development experience, with a strong track record in delivering complex .NET applications.
• Technical Skills:  Proficiency in .NET 6/7, C#, ASP.NET Core, Web API; experience with EF Core and SQL Server.
• Strong knowledge of microservices architecture and API design; experience with domain-driven design is a plus.
• Deep experience with Microsoft Azure (App Services, Functions, AKS, Cosmos DB, SQL Server, Key Vault, Storage).
• Containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and modern deployment patterns; experience with CI/CD (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions).
• Familiarity with both relational (SQL Server) and NoSQL (Cosmos DB) data stores; data modelling and performance optimization.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
• Interpersonal Skills: Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively across teams
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• A background in Core Banking(Cards/Payments/Transaction processing) is preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

• Lead the design and development of backend services using .NET (6/7), C#, ASP.NET Core, and Web API.
• Build and maintain a scalable microservices architecture and APIs; contribute to domain-driven design.
• Develop on Azure cloud services (App Services, Functions, AKS, Cosmos DB, SQL Server, Key Vault, Storage) and implement secure, resilient solutions.
• Ensure code quality through design reviews, TDD/BDD, unit/integration testing, and robust CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions).
• Own non-functional requirements: performance, reliability, security, availability, monitoring, and observability (logging, metrics, tracing).
• Collaborate with Product, PMO, and stakeholders to translate business needs into technical roadmaps and deliverables.
• Provide technical leadership; mentor engineers; promote best practices, coding standards, and knowledge sharing.
• Contribute to architectural decisions; evaluate new technologies and lead technical initiatives.
• Create and maintain technical documentation and runbooks.
• Lead and participate in cross-functional and cross-region initiatives; support production operations.
