The Senior Project manager role will be expected to lead the end-to-end delivery of the banks key strategic initiatives, it requires the effective co-ordination of change delivery inter-dependencies, the project level management of any risks and issues, and control of budgets, actuals, and variance reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management
- Design, build and develop the project delivery structure and governance structure to ensure effective and efficient delivery of change in the organisation to achieve a project outcome for the organisation.
- Plan the project delivery schedule, monitoring progress against schedule, removing constraints to progress, escalating issues that cannot be resolved at the project level.
- Manage time, cost, scope and quality in accordance with the sponsor's mandate.
- Co-ordinate the delivery of the project outcomes, ensuring that sufficient resources are available to meet the delivery schedule and that the project outcomes are delivered to an appropriate level of quality, on schedule and within the agreed budget, in-line with the project delivery schedule and governance structure.
- To work as a community with other Project Managers across the organisation, regardless of which team/cost centre they sit in to deliver change and business outcomes in the most efficient way; reporting status as a joined-up community of Project Managers delivering change for the organisation.
- Assure the overall integrity of the project is maintained through adherence with wider Investec corporate, technical, and other specialist standards / requirements.
- Identify key stakeholders, engage with them, and maintain regular and consistent communications with them.
- Manage the handover of projects into BAU.
- Manage project delivery according to the Projects team project methodology and standards.
- Contribute towards / provide status information to key forums – Risk and Control, Tech and Ops, Quarterly Planning.
Special Requirements
- The project manager must be able to run multiple projects and across multiple portfolios if required.
- Regulatory change experience.
- From time to time the project manager may be required to own and execute high level business analysis tasks.

Communication skills
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, and an ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
- Ability to build strong relationships across business teams and geographies.
- Strong team player who understands and demonstrates the benefits of a collaborative style and approach.
- Strong, objective facilitation skills to encourage collaboration, energise, and maintain participation.
- Emotional intelligence to ‘read the room', and the confidence to step in and actively resolve conflict when needed.
Project Management & Analytical skills
- Extensive project management experience in a financial institution
- Regulatory change experience
- Experience delivering large scale, multi-year projects that impact multiple teams
- Experience of working with the full project management lifecycle
- Experience of running both IT and non-IT related projects
- Awareness of business analysis methodologies, business analysis, facilitation and problem solving
- Sound business case development and approval skills.
- Working in a matrix management environment (with accountability to the individual projects and wider organisational team)
- Working on multiple projects running concurrently and managing conflicting priorities
- Experience with benefits realisation planning and management
- User acceptance testing, based on requirements gathering
- Excellent problem solving skills
Organisational skills
- Ability to prioritise and manage time while working on multiple projects
- Ability to multi task, work flexibly and work well under pressure
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability and willingness to work flexibly to meet deadlines
Facilitation skills
- Ability to obtain consensus within the group; to command respect and to create a sense of community amongst the members of the project teams
- Experience of facilitation & collaboration tools
- Maintain an objective role & resolve conflict as required
- To always act with integrity and embrace the philosophy of treating our customers fairly (compulsory)
- Regulatory Knowledge as applicable to role (compulsory)

Project management accreditation preferred.
