We combine a flat structure with a focus on internal mobility. If you can bring an entrepreneurial spirit and a desire to learn and collaborate to your work, this could be the boost your career deserves.
Investec is seeking a Senior Quantitative Developer to join our dynamic Quantitative Strategies team in London. In this pivotal front office role, you will play a key part in developing, supporting, and defining the architecture of our in-house trading and risk management system.
About the Team:
The Quantitative Strategies team is composed of 15+ quants and developers and is an integral part of our Corporate and Investment Banking division. We support Investec's trading businesses by acting as the bank's trading book calculation engine, offering pricing, trade capture, and risk reporting functionality across the group.
What you will be doing
- Lead the full software development lifecycle, from design to writing and releasing code into production.
- Develop and maintain unit tests to ensure code quality.
- Conduct code reviews to uphold best practices within the team.
- Collaborate closely with technology, quants, trading, dealing, and market risk teams to ensure the system supports trade capture, live market data, PnL/risk calculations, trade lifecycling, and reporting.
- Work on the expansion of the application into new business areas, contributing to the growth of the team.
What we are looking for
- Strong experience in C# with proficiency in C++ or Python.
- Extensive development experience with strong communication skills to thrive in a highly analytical environment.
- A background in financial services, particularly in a front office role, with business knowledge in FX, Commodities, IR, or Equities.
- Proven track record of delivering enterprise solutions and leading projects from conception to delivery.
- Comfortable with threading in real-time data applications.
- Familiarity with RDMS (e.g., MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase) and experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., Redis, Memcached) is a plus.
- Extensive development experience with strong communication skills to thrive in a highly analytical environment.
- Ability to confidently navigate ambiguity and work collaboratively within a team.
Additional, helpful, but non-essential attributes
- Experience with quant libraries and cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, Google Cloud).
- Knowledge of other programming languages such as VBA, Python, or Go.
- Familiarity with tools like CMake, Git, Jira, and continuous integration tools (e.g., Jenkins, Team City).
- DevOps experience is a plus.
As part of our collaborative & agile culture, our working week is 4 days in the office and one day remote.
