Team Description:

Investec India is looking for a Senior Test Engineer in the UK Offshore OPP (One Payments Platform) team. The person must take responsibility for designing, developing, and executing quality assurance for multiple applications across the platform. Testing will be both manual and automated & could be on projects or BAU's.  Payments Domain knowledge and experience is key. The Test engineer will work closely with the development team to ensure high-quality software delivery and will be responsible for testing and documenting the test process for the software at all levels of the development process.

Description of role and key responsibilities:

• Create and execute test plans and test cases for software applications.
• Maximize test coverage for the most critical features of the system
• Working with end user, business analysts and developers
• Participating in QA activities: Integration-, Regression-, Performance-testing
• Provide post-release support
• Determine the priority for test scenarios and create execution plans to implement these scenarios
• Write documentation for processes including test plans, test procedures, and test cases and document bugs in the tracking system
• Solid experience in establishing and maintaining controls for risk and quality
• Defect tracking and reporting tools, Risk Analysis and Static Techniques, Test Design Techniques
• Knowledge of DevOps principles will be needed to test support/maintenance implementations
• Accountable for the effective creation, measurement, and control of the test strategy within the OPP Team
• Building Automated tests across the stack where applicable
• Ownership and driving testing tasks from start to finish
• Coordinate and support UAT with business users.
• Collaborate with the Product team and development team to identify test scenarios and ensure that all critical business requirements are covered in the test plan.
• Analyse test results and debug errors.
• Report and track defects and work with the development team to resolve them.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies such as stand-ups, planning sessions, and retrospectives.
• Continuously learn new testing technologies and tools and share with the broader team.
• Following and contributing to Test Guild and best practice and standards

Core Skills and knowledge:

Experience:

• Strong understanding of RESTful web services, along with experience in validating API responses and performance
• Experience in the payment's domain with a strong understanding of payment messages, MTxxx, and ISO 20022 standards
• Proficient in using automation tools and frameworks for API testing, ensuring comprehensive coverage and reliability
• Experience with data-handling within Azure
• Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., C#, JavaScript) to create and maintain automation scripts
• Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and experience working in an Agile development environment
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changes quickly
• Experience with any test management tools
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools, particularly Azure DevOps and Azure Pipelines
• Knowledge of both NoSQL and SQL databases
• Experience with event-based architecture and microservices

Qualification:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology or related field
• 7+ year experience in testing
• 2+ years of previous experience as a test automation engineer
• ISEB/ISTQB Qualifications
