Stress Testing AnalystRole: Stress Testing AnalystLocation: LondonOverviewThis is an exciting opportunity for a mid-level risk professional to join a dynamic and growing business in a newly created role, reporting to the Head of Stress Testing. The role offers a stimulating and varied environment focusing on identifying and articulating macro-economic and Investec-specific vulnerabilities and develop/implement methodologies, systems and processes to enhance Investec's stress testing capability• What will the Stress Testing Analyst will be involved in? • Macro, idiosyncratic, and reverse stress testing• Stress testing methodology development (mainly credit risk)• Review and challenge stress testing submissions• Document stress testing findings and recommendations and prepare materials for relevant governance meetings• Development/implementation of systems and processes relating to stress testing• The role requires a strong emphasis on quantitative skills, technical knowledge of stress testing across risk disciplines, risk methodologies, and a thorough understanding of UK regulatory expectations with regard to stress testing• Willingness and ability to continuously enhance knowledge and take on more responsibilities is essentialWhat are the responsibilities?• Methodology development, implementation and documentation: Involved in the continuous enhancement of stress testing methodologies; setup/maintain stress testing models inventory; involved in setting up model validation process for stress testing function• Data gathering, organisation and analysis: Collect relevant stress testing data in close collaboration with relevant reporting teams; develop strong understanding of Investec's portfolios with respect to stress testing sensitivities; propose data enhancements for regular reporting as relevant• Stress testing guidance and model calibration/execution: Own periodic scenario implementation guidance document; involved in stress testing model calibration and execution• Assist in the implementation of stress scenarios: Build strong relationships with stakeholders involved in the production of stress testing results, including financial planning teams/business, credit reporting teams, finance, and capital teams; assist in the interpretation of stress scenarios• Review and challenge of stress testing results: Review and analyse stress testing submissions; challenge results in context of a given scenario and Investec's portfolio, and BoE stress testing guidance; ensure and validate that feedback has been implemented in the dataset• Documentation of stress testing results and findings / recommendations: Produce stress testing reports, presentation materials, and inputs into the ICAAP and other risk-related processes; identify key areas for improvement and proposed recommendations for management to consider; document findings in a precise, coherent and relevant manner; maintain stress testing policy and frameworkWhat core competencies do you need?Technical knowledge• Broad cross-risk knowledge, specifically in the areas of credit, market, operational and liquidity risks• Understanding of risk in an economic, accounting and regulatory context• Understanding of existing Accounting Standards (including IFRS 9)• Understanding of UK regulatory guidance relating to stress testingOther• Strong financial analytical skills, strong numerical reasoning skills and financial modelling skills• Python prototyping and implementation• Interpersonal and stakeholder management skills• Financial analysist or risk manager qualification considered an advantage• Hands on approach and prepared to get involved in a broad spectrum of stress testing activities with respected to: risk types; scenario themes (macr-economic, idiosyncratic, trend risks such as climate change; approach to implementation (eg, excel, Python, qualitative, etc); housekeeping (model inventory, model validation, stress results documentation, etc)Research shows that some candidates – particularly female candidates – can be reluctant to apply to a role unless they meet all the criteria.
