Team description |
The Stress Testing team is responsible for IB's macroeconomic and idiosyncratic stress testing framework. The team performs bespoke risk assessments and integrates methodologies into business-as-usual (BAU) practices. The team collaborates closely with Risk, Finance, Capital and Modelling teams, and represents the Risk and Scenario Analysis function within governance forums and with regulators. |

Description of role and key responsibilities |
The IRB Stress Testing Quantitative Analyst is responsible for supporting the end-to-end development of models used to stress test credit risk capital requirements under Investec's IRB framework and is accountable to the Head of Stress Testing in London. The primary focus of the role is the development, maintenance and execution of IRB stress testing methodologies covering stressed PD, LGD and EAD estimation. The role ensures that stress testing models and processes meet regulatory requirements while supporting best practice in credit risk and capital management.
The successful candidate will support stress testing model development, validation activities, benchmarking, back-testing and broader model lifecycle management. The role will prepare quantitative analysis that supports ICAAP submissions, committee papers and senior management decision-making. Business-as-usual activities, including execution of macroeconomic scenarios, will be required as part of regulatory submissions and ongoing risk management activities.
The role will work closely with London-based resources through joint model ownership, peer review and knowledge-transfer activities and will support automation, process optimisation and AI-enabled workflow development across the stress-testing framework. Exposure to climate risk, IFRS 9, ICAAP and broader portfolio analytics will be provided in addition to IRB stress testing. Additional responsibilities: · Support the end-to-end development lifecycle of stress testing models and methodologies, including data analysis, portfolio analytics, development, documentation, governance approval and implementation. · Conduct portfolio analytics to support stress testing model development, calibration and scenario-based risk assessment. · Support model governance, validation reviews, committee papers and regulatory submissions through high-quality analysis and technical documentation. |

Core skills and knowledge |
· Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or Computer Science with strong Python programming skills. · Experience using Python for model development or within an analytical function. · 3+ years experience in banking, ideally within Credit Risk, IRB Modelling, IFRS 9 or Stress Testing. · Strong analytical, quantitative, verbal and written communication skills. · Strong interest in developing credit risk and stress testing models. |
