Role: Technical Administrator (x2 Vacancies)

Team Description

Financial Planning Administration (FPA) is the advice support unit responsible for assisting with the processing of new business activities, liaison with client facing staff across advice and Product Providers.

Role Purpose

To provide high touch, qualitative support to aspects of the client journey particularly focussing on supplementing and supporting the paraplanning activities and objectives of that role.  We will also consider candidates who are looking to progress down the Paraplanner path over time.

Primary Tasks

  • Obtain illustrations from product providers
  • Qualitative analysis of data received from providers
  • Extract and interpret the information received in response to Letter of Authority (LOA) requests
  • Input information from LOA responses into the system
  • Liaise with product providers for further information as required
  • Maintain progress status and liaise with Paraplanners
  • Obtain information from providers for client meetings where required
  • Check fees are correct when agency has been taken over
  • Maintain electronic document filing as required
  • Pre-population and submission of provider application forms (inc IW&I Client Agreements)
  • Assist wider FPA to liaise with providers to obtain information / chase
  • Validate and issue valuations to support the annual client review process where required
  • Undertake other such tasks as directed, to assist with the smooth running of the team
  • Liaise with team members and other departments as required

Skills, Knowledge & Experience Required


  • Prioritises and makes effective use of time, with good organisation skills
  • Good attention to detail
  • Excellent telephone manner, listens actively and questions to clarify own understanding
  • The ability to speak to teams either internally (i.e. Settlements and Wealth Planning) or with external providers
  • Written communication grammatically correct, with good spelling and punctuation
  • Highly proficient in following procedures


  • Good working knowledge of relevant Financial Products (e.g. Pensions, Protection Products, Trusts and Investment Wrappers)
  • Good knowledge of current market conditions
  • Familiarity with the advice and investment management systems used on a day-to-day basis (e.g. XPLAN, Pulse, DSX, Adviser Office and Iress Exchange)
  • A thorough understanding of financial advice processes and procedures


  • Experience of working within the financial services industry
  • Experience of effectively communicating with third party providers to understand and elicit the data necessary for Paraplanners to produce high quality Advice Reports
  • Experience working in Financial / Wealth Planning focused teams together with Planners, Associates, Administration and third party providers
  • Experience of new business and policy servicing administration
  • Has the experience and confidence to deal with queries from stakeholders 
  • Working cross-collaboratively with other teams and departments to ensure processes and workflows are efficient companywide
