Technical Product Owner – Transactional Banking Technology

At Investec, we are building a differentiated Corporate Banking proposition in the UK, with transactional banking at the heart of our client offering.

We are looking for a Technical Product Owner with experience of Corporate or Transactional Banking technology to help shape and deliver the platforms and capabilities that underpin how corporate clients manage their accounts, payments, cash and liquidity.

You do not need experience across every area of Transactional Banking. We are particularly interested in people who have worked with the technology supporting one or more of the following:

• Core banking platforms and core ledger / account platforms
• Cash management
• Liquidity management
• Commercial, corporate or high-value payments
• Virtual accounts
• Receivables and collections
• Payables
• Trade finance
• Corporate digital banking channels
• Treasury services
• Business current accounts and deposits
• Fees, charging and interest
• Client onboarding, servicing and account management

Your experience could have been gained within a bank, FinTech, payments provider or banking technology environment. What is important is that you understand how transactional banking products and client journeys translate into technology capabilities and can work effectively with product teams, architects and engineers to deliver them.

What will I be doing?

• Own, refine and prioritise the technology backlog for Transactional Banking, translating business and product priorities into clear epics, features, user stories and acceptance criteria.
• Help shape technology capabilities across areas such as core ledger and accounts, payments, cash and liquidity management, virtual accounts, receivables, payables, corporate channels, treasury services and client servicing.
• Work closely with Corporate Banking product teams, operations, architecture and engineering to turn business requirements into scalable technology solutions.
• Coordinate across core banking platforms, payment infrastructure, APIs and integrations, digital banking channels, onboarding and servicing platforms to enable effective end-to-end corporate client journeys.
• Understand the interaction between banking products and the underlying technology, including account and ledger structures, transaction processing, payment flows, integrations and servicing.
• Manage delivery dependencies, risks and technical considerations while balancing client value, commercial priorities, operational resilience and technical debt.
• Play an active role in agile delivery, backlog refinement, solution shaping and delivery governance.
• Ensure delivered solutions meet business, operational, control and regulatory requirements.
• Identify opportunities to improve the delivery and operation of transactional banking capabilities through automation, data and AI-enabled tools.

What are we looking for?

What's Essential?

We are looking for someone with a strong combination of banking domain knowledge, technology understanding and product ownership/delivery experience.

You will ideally bring:

• Experience working within Corporate Banking, Transactional Banking, Cash Management, Payments or Core Banking technology.
• Hands-on experience delivering technology supporting at least one transactional banking capability
• Experience as a Technical Product Owner, Product Owner, Technical Product Manager, Business Analyst or similar technology delivery role within banking or financial services.
• The ability to translate banking products, processes and client journeys into technology requirements and deliverable outcomes.
• Experience working closely with engineers, solution architects and platform teams.
• An understanding of modern banking technology architectures, including APIs, integrations and interactions between core banking, payment and digital channel platforms.
• Experience managing technology backlogs, requirements, dependencies and delivery priorities within agile teams.
• Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to work across product, business, technology and operations.

What's Desirable?

It would also be valuable if you have experience of:

• Corporate banking platforms or core banking transformation programmes.
• Modernisation or replacement of legacy banking platforms.
• UK payments and payment processing environments.
• API-led banking and integration architectures.
• Corporate digital banking channels and client servicing platforms.
• Cloud-based banking technology and DevOps delivery environments.
• Using AI or automation to improve requirements, analysis, testing or software delivery.
• Working within a UK bank, challenger bank, payments organisation, FinTech or banking technology provider.
