Job Description

What does the team do?

  • The Financial Intelligence team forms part of the wider financial crime team that services Investec Bank plc.
  • Financial Intelligence is responsible for formulating and developing the strategy and framework for mitigating financial crime risk.
  • Team responsibility include;
  • Building and maintaining an effective financial crime model / intelligence function for Investec Bank plc (IBP).
  • Evolving understanding of financial crime regulations, industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies.
  • Provide, effective and holistic intelligence capability.
  • Develop & enhance models in support of IBPs AML/CTF activity, including data acquisition, modelling, implementation & tuning strategies.
  • Test and analyse thresholds and monitoring configurations to improve the effectiveness of monitoring and screening solutions.
  • Analyse and report various monitoring metrics to evolve a strategy and implementation plan

What are the main responsibilities?

  • Support the development and implementation of an effective and efficient transaction monitoring framework.
  • Acquire and analyse large complex financial data sets and identify trends, patterns & anomalies.
  • Responsible for building, tuning, and calibrating transaction monitoring detection scenarios using analytical techniques.
  • Supporting development & optimisation of transaction monitoring alert systems
  • Identify and resolve issues identified in the transaction monitoring models.
  • Create and execute test scenarios to validate solution design in support of financial crime assurance.
  • Conduct user acceptance testing.
  • Provide challenge and recommendations for improvements.
  • Develop, document, and implement tailored FCC strategies, policies, and procedure's that align with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Enhance ongoing review and tuning framework.
  • Conduct training and workshops to enhance stakeholders understanding of FCC regulation, procedures, and emerging trends.
  • Provide regular feedback to senior management.
  • Assist in optimizing and developing the TM model methodology.
  • Provide guidance and subject matter expertise to projects, business, operations, IT and third-party vendors, whilst ensuring compliance with regulations.

What core skills and knowledge and are we looking for?

  • Transaction monitoring experience is essential
  • Ability to interpret regulatory requirements and align business needs
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • Experience in data management  
  • Experience is the design of test scenarios and UAT
  • Ability to adapt to a fast paced & innovative organisation
  • Relevant industry qualifications (such as the ICA Diploma level within Financial Crime)
  • Proficient in Excel, SQL & transaction analysis
  • Experience with at least one TM system, such as NICE Actimize, Oracle Mantas, FiServ
  • Strong experience in change governance
  • Ability to create MI using tools such as Power BI
