At Investec, we do things differently. We're a leading international bank and wealth manager built on a culture of curiosity, entrepreneurial spirit and human connection. Ideas are heard, ambition is celebrated, and impact is encouraged. As part of a team that challenges convention and strives for outperformance, you'll help shape bold solutions for clients who expect something more than the ordinary.
About the team:
The Bank Funding Group brings together deposit gathering, funding strategy, treasury, liquidity management and related change programmes. Its purpose is to raise, manage and optimise the funding required to support Investec Bank plc's balance sheet and lending activities.
Within the group, Central Treasury manages cash, liquidity, funding and balance sheet risks while supporting internal businesses with funding and market pricing. The team works closely with ALM, Market Risk, Finance, Settlements, Funding Channels and asset and trading desks across the bank.
What will I be doing?
As a Treasury Dealer, you will help manage Investec Bank plc's day-to-day cash, liquidity, funding and market risk activities. Working across Central Treasury, you will execute transactions, support balance sheet management and contribute to the effective management of the bank's liquid asset portfolio.
- Manage daily cash and liquidity. Reconcile positions, complete Bank of England transfers, source currencies, square nostro accounts and manage payment flows to minimise intraday liquidity usage.
- Execute market transactions. Agree and book money market trades, FX swaps, repos and reverse repos while respecting credit lines, short-term liquidity metrics and applicable risk limits.
- Manage collateral requirements.Source suitable collateral for margining needs and assess reverse repo collateral in line with capital usage targets.
- Support balance sheet risk management. Monitor liquidity, funding and interest rate risk and help implement hedging strategies for interest rate and FX risk in the banking book.
- Anticipate funding requirements. Assess changes to the asset pipeline and deposit repayments, manage currency mismatches and trade FX swaps to maintain currency survival horizons.
- Contribute to the Liquid Asset Portfolio.Support asset allocation and portfolio construction, conduct research across approved fixed income instruments and generate investment ideas informed by market and macroeconomic developments.
- Provide internal funding and pricing. Fund desks, branches and subsidiaries and price FX swaps, interest rate swaps, cross-currency swaps, money market and securities transactions for internal counterparties.
- Maintain accurate execution and booking.Complete internal and external trade bookings promptly, resolve issues with Settlements and Financial Control, and process manual funding adjustments where required.
- Deliver treasury information. Produce management information and provide regular Treasury activity and market updates to internal stakeholders and senior management forums.
- Collaborate across Investec. Work closely with ALM, Market Risk, Finance, Settlements, Funding Channels, asset and trading desks, Accounting and Technology teams.
What do I need to bring?
You will bring a strong interest in financial markets, robust analytical capability and the ability to operate accurately and calmly within a dynamic treasury environment.
- A strong understanding of fixed income, cash and foreign exchange markets.
- Knowledge of treasury, liquidity, funding and balance sheet management activities.
- Strong mathematical, financial modelling and analytical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- The ability to perform effectively under pressure and deliver to demanding deadlines.
- Strong relationship management and communication skills across front office, risk and support teams.
- A proactive, self-starting approach with the confidence to think independently and improve existing processes.
- Relevant regulatory knowledge and a commitment to the Consumer Duty Principles and treating customers fairly.
I am good at:
