Join Investec's Funding & Markets Finance team as a Treasury Financial Controller, where you'll play an important role in maintaining strong financial control and reporting across Central Treasury.
Working in a small, hands-on team, you'll have direct exposure to senior stakeholders across Treasury, Finance and Risk. You'll take ownership of key month-end activities while developing broader knowledge of Treasury operations, including hedge accounting, FX exposure reporting and Treasury P&L. The role also offers the opportunity to help improve and automate reporting and control processes.
What will I be doing?
- Own the review and substantiation of Treasury balance sheet accounts, ensuring reconciling items are understood, supported and resolved.
- Manage and monitor Treasury accounting feeds and interfaces into the General Ledger, helping resolve booking or interface issues.
- Review month-end Treasury P&L, investigate key movements and provide clear analysis and commentary to stakeholders.
- Review month-end hedge accounting outputs, ensuring alignment with accounting policies and supporting documentation requirements.
- Prepare and post month-end journals, Treasury-related financial statement disclosures and supporting documentation.
- Partner with Treasury stakeholders, providing financial information and analysis to support funding and Treasury activities.
- Support Treasury's wider financial control environment, including daily hedge accounting processes, FX exposure reporting, Treasury P&L and internal and external audit requirements.
- Help improve how the team works by identifying opportunities to automate, simplify and strengthen Treasury accounting, reporting, controls and processes.
What are we looking for?
Essential skills and experience
- A qualified Chartered Accountant.
- Experience of balance sheet reconciliations, substantiation and journal preparation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to communicate effectively with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
- Experience identifying and implementing opportunities for process improvement and automation.
- Advanced Excel skills, alongside experience working with finance systems and general ledgers.
Desirable skills and experience
- ACA qualification.
- Strong month-end close and financial control experience gained within banking, Treasury or financial services.
- A good understanding of financial instruments and Treasury products.
- Knowledge of hedge accounting, including IFRS 9 and/or IAS 39.
