UK Securities Editor/Supervisory Analyst (6636)

Investec is a distinctive Specialist Bank serving clients principally in the UK and South Africa. Our culture gives us our edge: we work hard to find colleagues who'll think out of the ordinary and we put them in environments where they'll flourish. We combine a flat structure with a focus on internal mobility. If you can bring an entrepreneurial spirit and a desire to learn and collaborate to your work, this could be the boost your career deserves.

Embedded in our culture is a sense of belonging and inclusion. This creates an environment in which everyone is free to be themselves which helps to drive innovation, creativity and ultimately business performance. At Investec we want everyone to find it easy to be themselves, and to feel they belong. It's a responsibility we all share and is integral to our purpose and values as an organisation.

Research shows that some candidates can be reluctant to apply to a role unless they meet all the criteria. We pride ourselves on our entrepreneurial spirit here and welcome you to do the same – if the role excites you, please don't let our person specification hold you back. Get in touch!

Investec's UK Equity Research department seeks a creative thinker with strong commercial acumen to join its London-based editorial team to cover a period of maternity leave. You will operate within a collaborative, intellectually stimulating environment and be part of an internally respected team. As well as satisfying US regulatory requirements and ensuring reports meet internal quality standards, you will have opportunities to assist the analysts in the research planning stage – not just focusing on detail, but often helping them structure a cogent investment case to present to our institutional investor clients.

We seek an individual with high integrity, discretion and strong values who is keen to contribute their ideas and experience to ensuring our continued team success.

Key responsibilities

  • Edit and distribute research in a timely manner, ensuring regulatory & firm requirements are met
  • Work closely with analysts to ensure clarity, accuracy and readability
  • Help manage the research publication schedule to maximise the commercial impact of reports

Core skills and knowledge

  • Candidates must currently possess either FINRA 24 (Research Principal) or FINRA 16 (Supervisory Analyst) US qualifications to be considered for this role.
  • A keen follower of current economic and financial affairs, you should enjoy the challenge of working alongside a growing team of more than 30 analysts covering over 300 stocks, and helping them to deliver high quality product, often against tight deadlines.
  • You will likely be educated to degree level, be familiar with basic accounting principles, and have demonstrable relevant experience in comparable roles within the UK equity securities industry.
  • Attention to detail, strong interpersonal skills, and excellent written & spoken English are prerequisites

Systems/Internal processes

  • Strong MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience using a research workflow platform, such as FactSet Partners

Working hours

The role requires some flexibility, especially around peak periods. However, we are very open to conversations about flexible working, so please ask.
